I want to rant about racism and fairness

So the girlfriend and I go to see the movie Decent (good movie BTW). So there is a group of white guys making alot of noise during the movie. This big black chick starts telling them to shut the **** up. At the end of her bitching she says "****ing white boys."

Now I KNOW that if the guys said "****ing black chick" she would have hit the fan about them saying anything about her race. I see this alot of TV, radio Etc. where a black person or any other race but white can make fun of white people and get away with it but the moment a white person calls a black a ******, a mexican a spick, a asian a chink, the **** hits the fan. Is it ok for minoritys to be racist to whites but not vice versa?

Someone please explain this ideology to me cuz as it stands now, its bullshit! Not saying I want to run around saying ****** or spick but damnit, i dont want other calling me a cracker and thinking its fair (which i dont care if i get called a cracker)

I would have got all up in her grill, and caused her to slap me, then charged her for a "hate crime".

Okay, just kidding. Being married to a woman of spanish/ latin decent, I've seen racism up close and personal towards her from caucasians. My point being, there's still racism in the world - on all sides.

What I think is really funny is that "white boys" were being loud in the theater. Talk about pot/ kettle stereotypes...

Of course, I'm used to being called all kinds of names. I quit taking offense at anything verbal a long time ago.

I agree, there seems to be a back-lash in our culture against those of Anglo-European descent (or "white" American), which I don't thing will go out of vogue in our lifetime. And no, there's nothing right about that either.

At a diversity meeting the other month it was asked, "where is white anglo-saxon male month". We have , "women, hispanic, asian, black, GAY... blah, blah, blah. We want ours". All the diverisity months have dissappeared. Why? Cause it was easier to make the others go away then it was to make a WHITE MALE ANGLO-SAXON month and listen to the fall out.

Hell yeah man! Same thing with affirmative action. To many people think they deserve handouts just because they are the minority. I've heard too many folks sit here and talk about how the big white man is holding them down. This would be the same guy who spends all of his free time smoking pot and doing other drugs. Mind you this would be the same guy who believes pot is illegal because it's a "black cultural thing."

I hate racism no matter which direction it's going... But I don’t see how someone who starts spitting out racist comments gets livid if any were thrown in their direction!

Rather than running around the problem in a circle, why not just address it?
She was wrong. It wasn't f***king white boys who were causing a problem, it was a generation of disrespectful youth that was doing it.

America in general, when it comes to diversity, is fork-tongued. We want and embrace our diversity when it suits winning an argument. Then we go to our homes and curse everyone else for being [insert nationality/race/gender here]. I do it myself sometimes. F***king white people. F***king black people. But I can do that.

Until we make a concerted effort to remove the hyphen from our society, you better get used to it. White people won't like black people, black people won't like white people, and old black people won't like anyone. I don't know how it is in Canada, but America is the only country I've been to where people who are several generations born in America still hyphenate and say Irish-American, Italian-American, African-American. When, as a society, we stand up and say we are American, and not in a commercial in response to a terrorist attack, you're going to keep seeing this.

thats funny cuz i just asked a mexican at work the other day why almost all mexicans have mexican flags somewhere on their cars. he wasnt really sure.

i can understand you being glad of you heritage but i dont have a norweigen (sp) flag on my car, if i did have a flag it would be and american flag if anything.

When I'm in the car with Bun (Chinese buddy) and he does something stupid I'll throw a jab at him "****ing asians can't drive" or when we go for sate Vietnamese food and I've got tears and snot streaming down my face he'll give me a "****ing pussy white people". I've got a Jamaican friend at work who always gets "you're a black guy, why don't you just steal it" and dishes out "you white people can't dance / play sports / etc"

The point is it's funny and race shouldn't be such a big deal.

Try being less concerned with what people say and more concerned with what they do. The lady was correct to criticize (wrong way though) but the real issue was the rude behaviour of the guys.

You can not account for every ignorant axs out there , i say fuxk them. I am inter racially married and being active duty military ( where families are a lot of the time big melting pots). I do not see the racism as great till i leave Post. Affirmitive action - hah! Military - you did not earn it you do not get it .Most of my buddies do as PHOBE, we joke about racism and never say it being cruel or snide but we also think before we speak!

So why worry about it? Strive to not be the noisy person in a theater and when you meet that person complain to the theater rather than rant (the first might actually improve something). The world is full of idiots and boorish people that will not change. Sure the method of exhibiting their class changes with time but they don't. Strive to not be in that group by refusing to go to that level.

I think seamus hit the nail on the head on this one. Where the hell are the parents in all this? The parents are the ones who should be teaching their children respect, values, morals and the difference between right and wrong. I could go on but.......................

I am mostly mexican 3 generations removed. I like burritos and tacos but The only flag I will hold dear is the Stars and Stripes.

I still say if you are flying another countries flag well you should go there and call it home.

Many times acting on emotion will get you into deep shat. Ignore it or laugh it off. Who has controll of who? Did her words make you angry or you let her words make you angry? You have controll of your own emotions grasshopper..

similar thing happened at work the other day. the Jamaican called the young white kid a cracker just being funny. the white kid was like "you know I coukd sue you for calling me that." the Jamaican guy always claims he's not black, he's Jamaican (yes he's actually from Jamaica).

me and my friends make racists jokes all the time. just in fun and only within our own group because we know we don't mean any of that crap.

that lady shoulda just smacked all them across the back of their heads and said "shut the hell up"

Ignorance is bliss they say... We tend to not understand things different from what we see in the mirror. Had they been black, she would have thought different things about the tomfoolery... That's likely the only hurtful thing she could muster to exclaim her irritation with them...

When I went to see 'lady in the water', some kid at the end of the flick states, loud enough that everyone in the theatre could hear "can someone just explain to me what the hell that was..." no one laughed, I personally looked at him like he was the dumbest muthafukka on the planet. Had he not been trying to get in his girlfriend's tight pants the whole flick, he might know what was going on. yes he had annoyed me the whole movie with the incessant giggling. Yes I thought he was stupid. Yes i wanted to slap the taste out of his mouth and make him bow down. No I didn't think any of these things because he was a rich black kid...

Well, it is pretty difficult and takes a lot of perserverance here in NH where I think we may have just broken the 2% mark. That would be the 2% of NH's population that is of the non-caucasian variety.
