| Carbon Trading You guys been keeping up with this kind of stuff? Schwarzenegger expands green initiatives - Yahoo! News
I've seen several economists argue, rather persuasively, this is the best way of reducing pollution.
Any thoughts? |

| Re: Carbon Trading I will admit that I do not know much about this, Can someone please explain how trading Carbon Output helps the environment?
I would think that if you forced the ones that need to buy output to reduce corbon emmisions would be better |

| Re: Carbon Trading Bascially, the idea is you pay for your carbon usage.
If your factory pollutes lots, you'll have to buy more carbon credits.
If you build a clean factory, you can sell/trade your carbon credits.
The more dirty we are, the higher the cost of carbon, the cleaner we get, the price of carbon credits drops.
It's very intriguing, and if you believe in the efficiency of free market economies, somewhat difficult to argue with at the intellectual level.
Now putting it in the hands of politicians...it very well could get totally botched in execution (like CA power dereg). |

| Re: Carbon Trading I bet there is a lot of fake carbon fiber here. Does that mean someone will make a lot of money selling credits to poser Ducati/MV owners? |

In fact on another forum, I've been arguing with a guy like crazy over 87 today.
His real motivation is he's pissed at the oil companies for nailing us at $4/gal during the peak (I think many of us agree), but he keeps trying to hide it in some environmental argument (lame). |
