Stripped of power? You wish. The Sissycrats have won NOTHING yet. They will NOT get control of the Senate or the House. If they DO - the President still has VETO power and it takes 2/3 majority to over ride a veto. GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND RETAKE HISTORY AND OR POLITICAL SCIENCE. The Democrats would have MAYBE (and I don't even believe this) a 2 seat majority. Yeah......your going to strip Bush of his power. Hahahha.

BTW - go ahead and run Hillary. You are going to get your asses kicked. You (and your candidate) are a bunch of pompous, holier than thou losers. You would have thought that after being defeated election after election you would have learned....guess not. There is no way that she will win. America is not ready for a female president. Sorry...... Oh....if you actually are thinking about running Obama...go for it. That's another one that America is not ready for. Maybe in a few years.... We will fun Giuliani and womp your asses - BRING IT!!!!!!!
Man, you make alot of assumptions..But then again, so does your illustrious leader.
Unfortunately, he's mine also.

I'm a Republican who's been screwed by this leader. So if the Dems are stupid enough to make Mrs. Clinton the Dem elect for the presidency, we will get a useless Republican pres once more but at least he won't be an Emporer with imperial powers.

Well, in that case, I strongly recommend not watching the documentary Fog of War with McNamara where he looks straight into the camera and says the Domino Theory, the theory for fighting in Vietnam, was completely, and totally wrong. And that he was obviously partially to blame.

It might contain a bit more fact than you are equipped to handle on the matter...

BTW, I had family die in 'Nam too.

Don't take this the wrong way Nedro - but you do NOT sound like a Republican. I can tell you this....I have been a Republican since I could vote - a real party man. I have helped in BOTH Presidential campaigns and walked the streets for my people. I am also VERY disappointed in some of the things President Bush did - but I would never slander him like you have. You are just aiding the enemy.

OK here we go man.

1) Unarmored Vehicles in Somalia - Hmmm... well, there were plenty of Armored Vehicles in Somalia. Perhaps you would like to expand on that claim. Besides, Somalia was only one of the military operations during the Clinton administration. To make matters worse, don't forget that it is Congress who passes legislation for Military Spending. Did you also know that Clinton's Secretary of Defese (William Cohen) was a Republican?

2) OK, well lets quit playing the rope-a-dope and push it. Clinton had been looking for Bin Laden. Congress was limiting his abilities to do so. The USS Cole is bombed. You have three months to make something happen in Washington as a Lame Duck President. Again, what would you have done?

3) Your 18 dead and 70+ wounded was due to one battle, the botched Operation Gothic Serpent that lasted 2 days. This is where Black Hawk Down came from. Up until then, there had been no US Casualties in Somalia. However, due to poor planning and coordination with the other UNOSOM forces, the whole thing becomes a pooch screw. Afterwards, President Clinton goes "**** That ****" and pulls out out.

I never said (neither did my father) that the war was being run properly. In fact, I would say that the President's involved are to blame for a lot of deaths. Why?? Because they micro-managed the military. If they had let the generals do what they knew to do best - we would have clobbered the North Vietnamese in a year or so. You don't bomb the **** out of Hanoi and have the North crying for mercy, then STOP and let them arm again. WTF were they thinking?

No, you didn't. I didn't talk about the fact we won the battles and lost the war, which is a great indication of a political problem.

I was speaking to your statement we were in Vietnam protecting America's freedom. That absolutely was not the case.

The political problem was the whole premise for the war was completely, and totally wrong. Vietnam was never going to be some Chinese- run communist society. Nothing about a communist run Vietnam was EVER going to harm an American's freedom...and didn't as soon as we left.

We're going to have to agree to disagree Lean. I don't agree with your statement. The USSR had ONE goal in mind from the mid 1940's when WWII ended until 1989....WORLD DOMINATION BY COMMUNIST INFILTRATION. First it's Vietnam, then it's North Korea, China, then Cuba, then Venezuela......... All of those countries would LOVE to do away with us and end our freedom. They eat, sleep, and breath communism. American's do NOT eat, sleep, and breath freedom. They are so use to it and spoiled by it, that they think nothing could ever happen to it. They are WRONG. They do NOT know how close to losing freedom we have been on several occasions. I.E. the Cuban Missile Crisis. We were just TWO HOURS from WWIII and a world tragedy. If it weren't for leaders like Kennedy that stepped up to the plate and told the Soviets to basically go to hell or we'll die trying to send you there, we would be speaking Russian. Thank God for leaders like Kennedy and Reagan. Bush isn't perfect - by ANY means - but I feel safe with him. I do not feel safe with some liberal, touchy feely, "let's just roll over and play dead..maybe they'll put their big guns away and go home" President. Clinton would have given the nuclear codes for the right price. Kind of like the Lincoln bedroom. Can anyone say "wag the dog"?

Domino theory, I was taught that **** in school too. And I believed it until I watched McNamara use it as an example of a colossal mistake and Vietnam was unfortunately the proving ground.

Like I said, don't take my word for it, watch the movie.

OK Nedro. What type of America do you aspire toward? A safe America? An America where you can stroll the streets with your family without fear of being shot, bombed, or terrorized? An America where you can buy a gun for your own safety? Things have changed dude. Get your head out of your ass and look around you man! We are missing FOUR airplanes, two high rise buildings, and thousands of INNOCENT souls. We can't just walk around like nothing is going on out there anymore. We have to be vigilant, pro-active, and aggressive toward people who's only goal is to hurt our people and our interests. Bush went into Afghanistan because those terrorists were hiding, training, and recruiting there. They want us destroyed. Bush went into Iraq because Saddam Hussein supports and propagates terrorists. He called North Korea part of the axis of evil because they have nuclear technology that they plan on using against us and or selling to our enemies.
WAKE THE **** UP PEOPLE!!! Jeezzzzz.....my God. We are at WAR with terrorists all over the world. We MUST be aggressive and be pro-active or they will end up here bombing our women and children EVERY DAY!

Surveillance, wire taps, searches in the airport, profiling. I say GO FOR IT!!!! If it scares those mother fu**ers into thinking twice before bombing or hijacking I say go for it!!!! Our few "injured" (not lost) freedoms need to take a back seat for a while. Until we can get this problem under control - I would rather lose a few freedoms and have a few inconveniences than be speaking Arabic and kneeling to the East every day.!!!

But what if the terrorist's goal is a long-term war of attrition where your freedoms (and economy) are slowly withered away?

Then they're succeeding incredibly well...and I think that is exactly what they are doing. (and I think that was a rhetorical question. )

I think that the measures your government is taking to combat terrorism would have been used out of neccessity anyway. (and likely already were) The mistake was to put that **** into law and open it to public debate and scrutiny. Bush is honest to a fault.
