A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives

I saw this over on the Aprilia Forum. This is from the King Liberal himself, Michael Moore. I was OK with pretty much all of this, except #9, even though it was funny.

A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives ...by Michael Moore

To My Conservative Brothers and Sisters,

I know you are dismayed and disheartened at the results of last week's election. You're worried that the country is heading toward a very bad place you don't want it to go. Your 12-year Republican Revolution has ended with so much yet to do, so many promises left unfulfilled. You are in a funk, and I understand.

Well, cheer up, my friends! Do not despair. I have good news for you. I, and the millions of others who are now in charge with our Democratic Congress, have a pledge we would like to make to you, a list of promises that we offer you because we value you as our fellow Americans. You deserve to know what we plan to do with our newfound power -- and, to be specific, what we will do to you and for you.

Thus, here is our Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives:

Dear Conservatives and Republicans,

I, and my fellow signatories, hereby make these promises to you:

1. We will always respect you for your conservative beliefs. We will never, ever, call you "unpatriotic" simply because you disagree with us. In fact, we encourage you to dissent and disagree with us.

2. We will let you marry whomever you want, even when some of us consider your behavior to be "different" or "immoral." Who you marry is none of our business. Love and be in love -- it's a wonderful gift.

3. We will not spend your grandchildren's money on our personal whims or to enrich our friends. It's your checkbook, too, and we will balance it for you.

4. When we soon bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq, we will bring your sons and daughters home, too. They deserve to live. We promise never to send your kids off to war based on either a mistake or a lie.

5. When we make America the last Western democracy to have universal health coverage, and all Americans are able to get help when they fall ill, we promise that you, too, will be able to see a doctor, regardless of your ability to pay. And when stem cell research delivers treatments and cures for diseases that affect you and your loved ones, we'll make sure those advances are available to you and your family, too.

6. Even though you have opposed environmental regulation, when we clean up our air and water, we, the Democratic majority, will let you, too, breathe the cleaner air and drink the purer water.

7. Should a mass murderer ever kill 3,000 people on our soil, we will devote every single resource to tracking him down and bringing him to justice. Immediately. We will protect you.

8. We will never stick our nose in your bedroom or your womb. What you do there as consenting adults is your business. We will continue to count your age from the moment you were born, not the moment you were conceived.

9. We will not take away your hunting guns. If you need an automatic weapon or a handgun to kill a bird or a deer, then you really aren't much of a hunter and you should, perhaps, pick up another sport. We will make our streets and schools as free as we can from these weapons and we will protect your children just as we would protect ours.

10. When we raise the minimum wage, we will pay you -- and your employees -- that new wage, too. When women are finally paid what men make, we will pay conservative women that wage, too.

11. We will respect your religious beliefs, even when you don't put those beliefs into practice. In fact, we will actively seek to promote your most radical religious beliefs ("Blessed are the poor," "Blessed are the peacemakers," "Love your enemies," "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God," and "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."). We will let people in other countries know that God doesn't just bless America, he blesses everyone. We will discourage religious intolerance and fanaticism -- starting with the fanaticism here at home, thus setting a good example for the rest of the world.

12. We will not tolerate politicians who are corrupt and who are bought and paid for by the rich. We will go after any elected leader who puts him or herself ahead of the people. And we promise you we will go after the corrupt politicians on our side FIRST. If we fail to do this, we need you to call us on it. Simply because we are in power does not give us the right to turn our heads the other way when our party goes astray. Please perform this important duty as the loyal opposition.

I promise all of the above to you because this is your country, too. You are every bit as American as we are. We are all in this together. We sink or swim as one. Thank you for your years of service to this country and for giving us the opportunity to see if we can make things a bit better for our 300 million fellow Americans -- and for the rest of the world.

Signed,

Michael Moore

Pretty much a total joke.
They already violate most of those, and when Conservatives wrote the same thing to leftist extremists like moore, they all were up in arms about it.
He is a joke, and an extremist.
That's alright, this election wasn't anywhere near the "Big Win" they thought it was and will only serve to further ruin their shot in '08.

Frau Pelosi ran a campaign of moderation, and I think we can expect more of the same.

My money is on a (D) pres in two years...and then this agenda moves forward.

There fixed it for you.
I don't see anything wrong with # 9.
I do recognize the right of the people to defend themselves.

Re: A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives

Pelosi running on moderation? That's funny.
And onevcs, just watch. The dems won the final mid-term election (by a smaller margin than other Presidents lose their final mid-term) due to the Republicans not being Republicans. The Republican party of today is more liberal than the democratic party of Kennedy's era.
All they had to do was pick up the fight on illegal border jumping or one of the many other areas they fell flat on their face and they would have kept the majority. Instead, they kept passing spending bills and ignored Conservatism in favor of Liberalism.
This vote was all about punishment, not about any liberal party plan as they have none.
There Conservative movement of Reagan Republicans is dead and gone, but needs to be restarted.
Now with the next two years being full of constant idiocy in front of the cameras as they try to push their whacked out ideals with no success people will be reminded why leftist extremists in power are a horrible idea that will destroy this country and will vote against them again, as they have for more than 10 years now.
Socialist health care? Just try it. That alone will turn out the voters against you. Jacking up the tax rates again? Again, bye, bye extremists.
#12 is one of the sadder jokes on that list, as the dems are FAR more corrupt. Miss Moderate even tried to push her pick of corrupt representative into leadership. Luckily, her pick lost to a slightly less corrupt one.

Re: A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives

The dems chose very moderate candidates, and Pelosi was key to that, to win this midterm.

They understand full well what is happening, these people aren't stupid.

I also think their eye is very much on the ball, and don't expect anything too radical until a (D) pres makes it into the White House.

Then you can watch the Pelosi liberal switch flip, and we are all screwed...

Yes, their caucus has become somewhat diluted, but I got called a bullshit artist for giving credit to Carl Rove....

I agree that most politicians are corrupt. It's just that some types of corruptions trouble me more than others.

Re: A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives

1. We will always respect you for your conservative beliefs. We will never, ever, call you "unpatriotic" simply because you disagree with us. In fact, we encourage you to dissent and disagree with us.
Nope but he will call you Hitler
2. We will let you marry whomever you want, even when some of us consider your behavior to be "different" or "immoral." Who you marry is none of our business. Love and be in love -- it's a wonderful gift.
But they will mandate that you pay for that choice of marriage if you happen to employ someone that you disagree with.
3. We will not spend your grandchildren's money on our personal whims or to enrich our friends. It's your checkbook, too, and we will balance it for you.
This is total Blue Sheep. It will be your checkbook, unless it is taken in taxes. As far as the personal whims wait for the increase in entitlement programs (see #5)
4. When we soon bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq, we will bring your sons and daughters home, too. They deserve to live. We promise never to send your kids off to war based on either a mistake or a lie.
Or in self defense. They will only send the army out as a meals on wheels program or under control of someone else (preferably in a blue helmet)
Socialism rules and government does things more efficiently. As for stem cells they will take my money by force to experiment on the prematurely murdered children (just like the Reich) Of course without my money the drug companies could still research stem cells (even adult ones) but again government is so much more efficient.
6. Even though you have opposed environmental regulation, when we clean up our air and water, we, the Democratic majority, will let you, too, breathe the cleaner air and drink the purer water.
More Blue Sheep. The differences between Clinton and Bush are neglible and we have improved the quality of our environment in recent times. Of course you will be banned from using your own land or driving the vehicle of your choice unless you are a star, named Kennedy or Kerry.
7. Should a mass murderer ever kill 3,000 people on our soil, we will devote every single resource to tracking him down and bringing him to justice. Immediately. We will protect you.
But they will regulate the slaughter of children as a right. Oh and devote a much resources as to the USS Cole or first bombing of NY
8. We will never stick our nose in your bedroom or your womb. What you do there as consenting adults is your business. We will continue to count your age from the moment you were born, not the moment you were conceived.
Hey maybe even you MAMBLA members can come out of the closet.
2nd ammendment is NOT about hunting. Also Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun
10. When we raise the minimum wage, we will pay you -- and your employees -- that new wage, too. When women are finally paid what men make, we will pay conservative women that wage, too.
You will pay nothing nor make anything, rather you will take from the producers to redestribute the gains to your dependants.
PLEASE, before you take money from anyone else by force and call it virtuous give YOUR money and live modestly.
If true fine. I can give you a list of politicians from both parties if you want to start the purge.

Re: A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives

Wow, it sounds like Moore is going to make everything all right! I'm so excited that finally someone's come along to fix everything and make America the shiny happy place of rainbows and butterflies where everyone lives in peace and harmony and dances hand in hand while the words of Martin Luther King blare from the loudspeakers. It's going to be fabulous.

It's a little confusing though... how is he going to devote all resources to tracking down Osama Bin Laden and the others while bringing all of the boys and girls in uniform home to eat apple pie and sleep soundly in their warm beds at night?

And how are they going to pay me a better minimum wage? I didn't know that the liberals were responsible for paying people's wages... On my paycheque it has my employer's name and my boss' signature. Does he get the money to pay me from the liberals, or from a big pile of money in Washington somewhere? Last week he laid off two of my coworkers because he said he couldn't afford to pay them any more. And he's been getting calls from his bank saying they want more money from him. I don't get it - doesn't he just have to call Michael Moore or someone else in Washington to clear this all up for him?

And the last thing that confuses me, is why is Michael Moore making all of these promises? What position did he win in the election? I didn't know he was running for office... maybe I wasn't following closely enough. What's his political status? He must have won something pretty big to be able to deliver all this.

Well, despite all my confusion, I'm really glad I read this. It makes me feel so good to know that there's someone out there who's going to fix all these problems. I better go tell my boss - he looks like he's having a bad day and I think he's going to be thrilled to know that Michael Moore is going to fix things up for him.
