Re: An Inconvenient Truth

A mole of methane traps about 30 times as much radiant heat as a mole CO2. You can keep breathing as long as you stop farting .

I wanted to use this as an opportunity to plug JunkScience.com -- Steven Milloy, Publisher. It's a great page to get mostly objective info.

JunkScience.com -- The Real Inconvenient Truth: Greenhouse, global warming and some facts is the specific page that pertains to this topic.

We were exempt as a small business before I sold the baking operation and just went to manufacturing and freezing. I haven't heard of any retail or grocery-sized operations being hit with that yet. Probably required on a new tunnel oven, though. Thanks for reminding me to stay out of that sandbox.

From today's Times:

Quote:
Blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are still being picked. Butterflies, dragonflies and even mosquitoes are still flitting about the countryside.

Swallows, blackcaps and chiffchaffs have stayed in Britain for the winter. Lawns need cutting, sheltered trees are still in leaf, thrushes and blackbirds have started to sing. People in Central London yesterday were walking around in short sleeves and pavement cafés were as busy as summer.
Is this the case your side of the pond too? We haven't even put our central heating on at home yet, well occasionally maybe, but it's normally working full bore from early October. No frosts yet either. Anyone want to buy some heated grips?

What happened to the melting ice from Greenland deluting the salinity of the ocean and stopping the gulf stream short so no more warm water gets to northern Europe and the British isles? And all that was supposed to cause severe cooling in that part of the world.

Damn meterologists have only had about 50 good years of weather data. And even less time to study global effects of weather, water, and sun interaction. We are far from fully understanding all we need to, to make an educated prediction on anything weather related.

If all these people screaming the "Earth is warming up, how do we stop it?" Would instead say. "Lets clean up our air and water so we don't die from pollution." Then maybe all the worry would be justified.

I actually agree Jaim. I think (know) we have improved quality of our environment in the last 50 years in the US. Is there still issues, yes. Is there areas that got worse not better, yes. But if people are rational on the topic I generally support things that will improve the environment

Gore was on Oprah today discussing this
He took on a critic of the information as well, pretty cool.
He also mentioned 2 of the leading scientific magazines in the US said there was no debate about this.

But it was 10 degrees below our average low today, surely that is a harbinger of a new ice age.
