| Re: What one thing pissed you off, today? Monday through today. I'm getting a new roof on my house. Roofing crews work long days and fairly hard physical labor, which I respect. Anyway, I get home from work and the wife is cooking dinner while I wind down from the day. Suddenly we lose power to 3/4 of the house which has NEVER happened before. Roofing crew is still hard at work up top. I think maybe it's a coincidence, but probably not. I check all the breakers and none are tripped. So I go check with the roofing crew and describe the problem and ask if maybe something happened. The lead guy tries to explain to me how to flip the breakers like I’m in third grade (I just happen to be a telecom engineer and know a thing or two about wiring and power). I end up calling our Home warranty company to send out an electrician. Too late in the day for a service call and they give me the name and # of the company that has been assigned my work order for tomorrow morning. Next day late afternoon and no electrician and my wife has followed up on the issue 3 times, but that’s ok because shortly after lunch the stucco crew (who comes in after the roofers to finish the exterior) found the problem. Seems there was an old service line that has been cut flush with the exterior of the house and is shorted together. When the roofing crew was cutting the old flashing out, they hit it. Stucco crew un-shorted it and we regain normal power. But they can’t resume work until the problem is fixed due to the risk of electrical shock. Well that’s nice, good thing it didn’t burn the house down while it was shorted together. I come home from work and still no electrician so my wife points out where the stucco guys found the problem. I trace the wire down to the main breaker box and find an old service line (probably for the garage) still connected to a hot breaker that didn’t trip from the short!!! I disconnect it and all is good so the stucco crew can finish and not get electrocuted. Some asshat that lived here before me just cut the line to the garage (which now has a buried line) and left it hot. So we call the roofing company and let them know the wiring issue is resolved and they can finish the job. This morning the crew shows up and leaves a note to call the main office when the wiring problem is fixed…..WTF?? Numerous phone calls and at 4:48pm still no crew at my house to finish the job. |

'Nado bait, Brother, I feel your pain...I am still dealing with this leak, that the downstairs neighbors will not call the plumbers back to repair (bacause this time the workmen will have to cut through the neighbor's ceiling, not my floor/walls...But of course, thay don't want me to use my tub or anything...So WTF am I supposed to do to bathe my kids? Use bottled water in a bucket? Welcome back to the 18th century... |

| Re: What one thing pissed you off, today? I had to ride to work today oh wait that is a good thing, nevermind.
I normaly rid the van to work, but i was out in the shop late last night painting an atv motor that a fella is supose to be buying. i got in the house and went to sleep a little later than usual, but no biggie. i nod off to sleep and the baby wakes up. then i woke up again after that. i get back to sleep, i wake up again to the baby crying and notice my light to my chameleon cage is on.... oops, i over slept. i normaly catch the van at 6:00, its now 6:20 and the pick up is 15 min away. oh well, i will just drive, but wait, i dropped my powerstroke off last night for a recall, so i will take my old truck. but no, i cant do that i have no parking decals. great now i "have" to ride the bike today, and its going to be around 70 this afternoon

She will call me before buying ANYTHING (to the point that its almost an annoyance). Its good that she does this not so much to ask permission but to make sure that there is enough money in the account to cover whatever it is that she is picking up. |
