He was 42, I was 21, and we had just gotten past my angry young man bullshit to forge a good relationship. It messed me up so much, I threw away an academic scholarship to an Ivy, freaked out, and enlisted into the Army as a Private, with an Airborne Ranger contract...
Happy Birthday, Dad. |

Happy Birthday, Dad. | Sorry to hear that AB. My Dad also checked out just as we were beginning to like each other. Really does suck.
On a similar note I am going through my Grandpa's file cab tonight, sorting out his old papers. I am sad and miss he and Grandma. I am also very pissed at the mess their offspring have created. |

I remember whaen my GP died, I got a box (fruit of the month club box...who figured?) filled with photos and memorabilia from North Africa with Patton, and Europe from D-day plus 6. His unit liberated Pilzen Cz, and there is a picture of him in front of a cask of beer large enough to park a truck in...Very cool. |

| Re: What one thing pissed you off, today? I'm pissed off that I caught a cold last night. I'm pissed off that I spent the entire day studying for a 7:30 am micro test. I'm pissed off that it snowed all night, I moved my car across the street for plowing as per apartment regulations, now my parking spot is not only not plowed but has a giant drift in the middle of it. Should have just left the car there. The management is going to hear about this. |

4x4 car or truck?
When I had my pathfinder the 3 year old came out of me when it snowed... I purposely left the shovel in my house and I would wait for the plow truck to bury me.
I had to feel that the other 11.5 months of snow free SUV ownership were justified...
I will venture out today with my little front wheel drive and have some fun pirouetting with the help of the hand brake. I am pissed off that I didnt ride today so I gotta make up for it somehow
I'll have my 3 year old with me so I'll go to an empty parking lot.... hopefully he'll enjoy it as much as me.

-jh | Truck, I just put the pic of the car in there to show size of the drift before getting packed down from me walking/shoveling/driving/getting pulled out of it. First time I have ever gotten her stuck!!
Me and my oldest boy (just shy of three) go down the back roads in the truck to hit the big drifts. He is in the back seat strapped into his car seat so I'm sure the view isn't as good as it could be but he still has a blast with it! |

| I have a 77 chevy sitting home in Idaho that I used to do that with every time it snowed. I have some great tires on it that seriously move some snow. I would pick up some friends and hit the mountain roads that never get plowed. Luckily I never got stuck but I was wishing yesterday that I had brought it here to Iowa with me. 1400miles at 10mpg is not something I want to do. |
