Maybe its just me, but when we were kids, our moms were happy to stay home with us when we were sick for a week. I'm guilty of the same thing though - I'll do anything to not have to stay home with sick kids... even go to work.

Normally I am the last to hear about someone starting work here. It's usually a Friday afternoon and someone comes in my office and says..."Oh by the way, we have a new person starting on Monday and they'll need their computer and phone all set up."
Over a week ago I got notice that someone was starting tomorrow. I thought, "GREAT , finally advance notice so I'm not rushing at the last moment and forgetting something" I get the thing all ready to go and their manager sticks her head in my door this morning and says. " Did I tell you that new girl is not going to work here after all?"

NO - DAMNIT - BUT THANKS FOR ALL THE EXTRA WORK I DID TO GET HER READY TO GO!

I hate it when that happens, whats worse is when they put in all the paperwork and they have the name spelled incorrectly so you get to go through it all a second time to fix it.

I've had managers before come and say, "by the way, so & so is starting next week" I'll ask them to verify the spelling of their name and they'll say, "I'm not sure, do you really need that? Can you just wait until they start and figure it out then?"
Oh sure, who needs correct spellings for silly things like network logins, voice mail extensions, etc. It's not important, really. GUN PLEASE.

So, today I pick up my CR-V from the garage where I keep it, intending to prep it for my wife to go out of town for a couple of days, and I see another cluster of door dings...I hate having to park in a commercial garage, and it is very depressing that every time I pick up one of my cars they have either additional door dings, scratches, an attendants coffee cup (found one on the pass seat of my 911 last year-no cup holder...Nearly killed the first attendant I saw) inside, or this patina of carbon dust from car exhausts covering everything outside and inside (especially thick when they leave the windows open) that must be cleaned on the fly lest I smear it into my skin and the various surfaces of the cars...Really pisses me off...
