Between the top 4 candidates still running, who do you feel would make the best President and why?

America isn't ready for a black pres, so I'd like to see Hil make. It would be a good change requardless of what she does or doesn't accomplish.

At least it would be a man. I don't think we should EVER have a woman as president. I am not racist...but how would it look as a big and powerful country and a Woman is leading...don't get me wrong...I like women just not as president.

Margret Thatcher scared the crap out of me, I think you just need a woman with a good set of stones which Maggie did of course have...... If the world was full of women leaders how much worse could it be?

True...actually to tell you the truth...I really don't care. As long as I get to do whatever I want (legally of course) then I'm fine.

Mitt's the man. Smart, articulate and knows how to accomplish things. Will get the economy back on track with tax cuts and being more fiscally conservative (unlike Bush who was spending like a drunken sailor). I don't let the Mormon thing bother me either. Obama is a good speaker but hasn't accomplished anything except talk. Hillary says anything she has to, to get accepted. Both of them are wiennies on fighting Terrorism too!
McCain looks strong in the polls but personally, he's too old and voted for Amnesty which I don't agree with.
Unfortunately, I think in the end it will be Barack Obama as Pres.

Its funny that no one has mentioned their thoughts on the candidates position on issues (other than a vague reference by denzee). African American...woman...whatever is not important... What are their positions on the issues that are important to you...or you...or me...that will make my decision for me. Although so far it is looking like I will vote Barak...

Not sure he needs to.
The dems are telling Hillary that America is not ready for a Woman pres.
And come November, they will do the same for a black man whos name is Muslim and refuses to put his hand over his heart durring the pledge of alligience.
Look! I'm gonna vote for Obama, but what does that matter? I live in California, so my vote has no consequences. California will vote Dem.
But because you asked an obvious question, I'm gonna answer it.
POLLS DON'T MEAN ANYTHING! When the curtain closes behind the American voter, old prejudices will rear their heads. And THAT is a guarenty!

I think it's because THEY ARE ALL LIERS! So what does it matter what comes out of their mouths?

Assuming that what you say is correct...and to a large degree it is...not all liars are created equal. Using the liar premise I pick not necessarily the one believe the most (what comes out of their mouth), but the one that based upon my judgement of their actions or there lack of action...what I beleive they will do. Does what they say correspond with their actions in the past...actions doesnt only mean voting on issues. Was the politician in attendance at an event that is significant to me...etc...

My concern is not whether the voters are intelligent because I think most are...but rather informed. There seems to be an abundance of voters that votes based on things that are irrelevant IMHO...

You're not kidding. Remember Reagan's second term?
There was a whole ground swell of idiots that were voting for him because, "I want to vote for the winner." Not a winner, but the winner.
It was the most pathetic thing I have ever witnessed.

When Hillary and Barack had there last debate and trashed NAFTA and said they would change NAFTA or cancel the agreement if the terms did not change so the USA wasn't getting shafted. Well, a few days before the debate both Clinton's staff and Oboma's Staff called the Canada Prime mister and told him that there candidate would be trashing NAFTA. They also told the Prime mister that he should just not pay any attention to it because they were just politicking and did not mean anything they would be saying about ending or changing NAFTA. This was on MSNBC Morning Joe show today. They contacted the Canada Prime misters office and they confirmed it along with Oboma's office. Clinton's office had NO commit. I swear any of them will say anything to get elected!!!! That also is the same for McCain!!!

i can't tell who is the right man (woman) to be your president because i'm not living in the us and i'm not completely familiar with what can certain candidate offer. but i can ensure you that your politicans can learn from ours about lieing and stealing. our politicans are among the best in the world in that part of activities so your choice is not so bad.
and you should see our candidates just before election. they look so honest and decent and modest and after they are elected regulary prices of everything rise up for 60% and everything they promissed they forget the very next day. you will say that your politicans do the same but if the price for the fuel is 6,5 dollars per gallon and if cars and bikes are double the price then in us and food is more expensive then in germany or so you can imagine what means to rise up prices more. we have taxes 22% and then if you are owner of the company you pay at the end of the year additional 20% for earnings in your company (if you have earned 100.000 dollars you have to pay 20.000 for taxes and you have to count in that you were paying 22% of tax whole year). so 42% of taxes for company owners. and salaries here are average are 7200 dollars per year.
so elect whoever...it can't be that bad |

over the past 15 years i've only (really) enjoyed the first 8. these last 7 started off bad and continued to worsen. i'm giving "her" a chance w/ my vote. i've had women bosses a couple of times and believe they make great bosses and hopefully a great leader (except this one dike i had, but i explained to her where/and how to go over the phone made myself a armload of Subxxx sandwiches and walked out) gotta love those meaningless jobs from your youth.
obama get's the nod if i have to. the next presidential term is going to be very interesting i think. looking forward to it.

Where is Ron Paul?
Thats my question... Everyone seems to forget that the only candidate running for REAL change in government is STILL RUNNING!! Hes anti Federal Reserve, anti CIA, anti military foreign policy, and anti government secrecy! We have a man who is trying to wake up America yet due to a gigantic media blackout has been hindered in voicing his message. Please look him up on You Tube, Google.. wherever and see what I´m talking about. Ron Paul 2008; Hope for America RonPaulMarch.com - Ron Paul Freedom March on Washington DC
I´ve been living in Spain for the past 1 1/2 years and was hoping there would be some CHANGE in this years election and when I found Ron Paul I was estatic. I just wish I was back home so I could help spread the word. America could use a man like Ron Paul.. And don´t let US media bias sway your thinking (I´m not talking Dem/Repub bias). European news has taught me this important lesson.
My vote... RON PAUL!

sorry to say but Ron Paul would destroy this country. Anti Government Secrecy!?!?!?!?! come on now. thats not even plausible. the government cannot tell the public everything, and any country that says they do is full of s**t.

and to all you bush haters out there, im not saying that he has been a good president. but you have to look at what he has faced, the attacks and all. and plus you cant put everything on him, the house and the senate have a pretty big play as to what happens.

Reputation Power: 9 | Re: Who would make the Best President? Speaking as an outsider it'd perhaps help if people would wake up a little and start thinking for themselves - instead of being led into arguing about little else except the relative merit of candidates funded by the big vested interests - who inevitably are going to look after their paymasters anyway.
People somehow seem unable to think for themselves on this sort of stuff, or else it's that only the candidate's PR machines and the control of the media mean that only topics that suit get into play.
Which from this distance are selected to press buttons and generate lots of heated debate and column inches - but in most cases they are only fluff and window dressing, and the substantive issues are left.
The US has fundamental problems today. In their rush for profit industry and the big guys invented globalisation, thinking that high tech high margin exports in exchange for cheap T shirts and sneakers was a good deal. But manufacturing has instead gone overseas chasing even higher margins - rather than address fundamental productivity and cost issues at home.
R&D is likewise now shifting, meaning that competition in even the high tech areas is rapidly increasing.
Increasingly the population (still expecting a fancy standard of living) works in service jobs, and the economy has become more and more dependent on consumer spending. But the means to generate the income to pay for this is fading.
Even banking it's now becoming clear can't make money out of nothing - there comes a point when people are fully borrowed. The frantic efforts to avert a downturn that have gone on for years now have shown that screwing around with interest rates can't breathe life into a dead or at least heavily overloaded patient.
Increasing energy, food and other prices (globalisation has upped world demand and created supply side competition) are meanwhile worsening the situation.
The military and its masters continue to spend like there's no tomorrow.
People seem mostly to want to bury their heads in the sand while all of this goes on - they don't want to think about the realities. The 'appalling vista' so to speak. This English figure of speech suggests that when things are bad people tend to ignore realities for as long as possible.
When forced to connect there's then normally a huge outpouring of anger and demands for extreme forms of action.
War is a favourite means of attempting to restore the status quo. Funny isn't it how both of the democratic candidates are taking a hard line in the Middle East....
