| Re: For Gun Owners It may surprise you guys to learn that, even though I'm a Brit, I strongly believe in an individual's right to protect his family and his home. And if that protection comes in the form of a handgun, a rifle or a shotgun then so be it.
I do have reservations about automatic weapons, though, if only because when they get into the wrong hands the damage they cause cause is truly staggering.
I also believe all gun owners should be registered. I don't think this is a problem though, as anyone with a genuine intention to protect themselves or their family should have no objection to registration. Whereas, someone with crime as their intention would not wish the weapon to be registered to them.
Carry on fighting for your right to protect yourselves, guys. I'm with ya |

Funny thing about criminals, they never say how well armed, drug'd up, how many wants and warrants they are running from, how many people they have hurt, maimed, or killed.
If you have a link to the definition of reasonable self defense i would like to read how they worded it.
Knee capping would be enough of a penalty for pinching a $250.00 t.v. |

You don't believe me? Google it and see for your self.
Since His Tonyness banned all club owner guns, the number of attacks on the general public in the UK involving them has actually increased! |

Originally Posted by Grover130 Hi - I wonder how many guns are in the US. Everyone I know has at least one. What would happen if a revolution started? | Well some of us have more than one. Some have his & hers, along with the ones passed down from family members.
A revolution would concern me, I have no desire to be involved in one. My desire is to be capable of protecting my family if the need arises. Having a hubby that was LEO who worked late nights I worried about being able to protect my children if someone who was ticked off at him were to come knocking on the door. So I went thru training to know exactly how to handle my Glock, how to load/unload, how to aim, how to handle the impact it makes when fired, how to store it, how to clean it, and how to keep it away from children. I think that is something everyone needs to do to own a gun. My almost 14 year old son also has gone thru this as well. And both my daughters know if they ever find one they are not to touch it, they find one of us immediately. If a friend of theirs has one get the hell away immediately. They are not toys. I dont even allow toy guns in my house for that reason.
I at least know that I can physically and mentally protect my children if the need comes up. Sucks when the country comes to that but it has and thats what I will do! |

| Re: For Gun Owners The word reasonable makes me nervous. If i have a gun and you brake into my house and i shoot you and you had no weapons is that reasonable? I don't understand reasonable in home defense. If you break into my house with intent to steal or do me harm then it should not matter if i shoot, stab, or beat you. And i don't see a difference between breaking in to steal or to do bodily harm. After the fact you can discuss intent all you want, but when the doors kicked in are you going to ask are you here for the t.v.? |

| Re: For Gun Owners imho. if someone breaks into your house and you find them stealing your tv they see you and run away and as there running you shoot them then thats unreasonable.if you find someone breaking into your home and you dont know if there armed or not and they dont run or they challenge you and you kill them thats reasonable. again IMHO. |

| Re: For Gun Owners Here is what I think.
You break in to get my TV - fine take it and leave. I have insurance. Meaning, I get a brand spanking new one.
If you come into my house and I see a weapon on you I will defend myself with any means necessary. If reasonable or not doesn't matter. I let my attorney take care of it later. |

| Re: For Gun Owners If you break into my house you have to come through the yard, either break a window or kick in a door... that in itself is violent. then you take my property which you have no right to. Can't carry my 73'' so you kick in the screen rummage my house looking for a quick pawn. And then you are off to the next house. It's not about insurance paying for the 360, all the games, the 54" in the basement, the 400 disc DVD player,it's about the next house that has a ninety year old woman that gets assaulted or murdered because it was just a t.v. Or the gas station attendant that gets shot because it has become easier to rob at gunpoint then b & e.
I don't want to live with the fact that i killed anyone for any reason, but i could not live with myself if i let someone off and they killed someone else.
Has anyone posting in this thread had their house broken into other then me?
And if so, did your opinion of break ins change? |

| Re: For Gun Owners My house was broken into. A couple things were stolen, and yes the insurance paid for it.
First and foremost. I support everyone's right to own guns, for reasons of my own. However, I think that voting for the President based only on gun rights for the unlikely reason that perhaps some day someone might want to break into your house utterly stupid. And if your neighborhood is so dangerous that you must have a gun to protect yourself from all those invaders, move. |
