I should have been clearer in my initial post.
It's not that it's my view on the situation in the middle
east, it's just that this footage clearly isn't all that it's
supposed to be. When you explore it, the soldiers
actions, what they did, should have done, the rationale
behind needing to release this footage etc, it doesn't do
the IDF any
real good. Isn't a good sign of the current Israeli
stance either.
Now if the story was the IDF soldiers were trying to take
terrorists, who were rocketing civilians, into captivity (hence
the patrol and UAV support) that might have been a better
story. The coward in the bush tried to suicide bomb himself
instead of being captured and tortured for info. They
seem to not be able to shoot to save themselves. He reacts by
throwing the grenade (instead of just dropping it) at the rushing
soldier. The IDF solider got luck he grabbed the arab that way at
that time, as he wanted to initially. So a lucky break instead of any bravery (good luck to him too)
Again, doesn't reflect too well on soldiers fighting for survival
with better equipment to spin it as a super brave move. Or for
Israel to sell that kind of rubbish story. It cheapens their cause.
It just looks ridiculous to try and say that it was tactically correct,
superior training etc......
Not to mention, as I said, to me that looks very fake.
Have I told you the story about how I shot a zero pilot in ww2 with
my colt 45 as I was parachuting out of my downed p-51 mustang?
