| Obama Haters??? I am so surprised that even after Obama has legitimately won the election, been inaugurated into the position that there is still so many hoping that he will fail in his own country. Why is this? Don't the people of the US want their country to move ahead, not fail? Leading the hope that Obama fails these days is Rush Limbaugh, why I ask?
You may not agree with who is in, but why would you hope for him to fail terribly? Not everyone, hell almost 80% of people in the US disapproved of Bush at the end of his presidential terms, but I don't think too many wanted to see him drag the country any further down than it already was just to be able to say, "look, look how terrible he is!
Just an observation...Discuss... |

| Re: Obama Haters??? You couldn't get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience. You couldn't become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon. You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience. You couldn't join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience. You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience. You couldn't get a job as Director of Nursing after 143 days experience as an RN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT 'From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World ... 143 days. We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that's all it is - a start. AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him. We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America? We are not voting for the next American Idol !!!

But I just don't like the idea and mind set of people who believe that he is going to come into office and fix everything. All this purely based on his race. I mean I over hear and know people who believe that the situation our country is it is due having white presidents who dont understand middle or lower class citizens there dont make decisions in their favor.
IMO I believe those people who believe that he will change things so quickly and fix stuff to be ignorant to the stucture of our goverment. I can almost say that the president doesn't matter as much as the government backing him.
I will say this about Obama though, He is proof of our countrys progress towards more diversity. Obama in office has obvioulsy showed how little color actually matters now contrary to what history has shown.
I don't think he's ready for office, and didn't vote for him, but I'm cheering for him because he's our president, and I want what's best for the land that I love. |

Just an observation...Discuss... | You didn't observe vey well sam because if you actually listened to Rush, you would have heard what he actually said. What he said was, he does want Obama to fail if his agenda is Socialism. If he moves more to the right (which aint goona happen) then Rush hopes he succeeds.
The first two Executive orders Obama gave had nothing to do with Protecting the US or to do with the financial crissis like one might think.
What were they....well one was he's going to close Gitmo Bay in 1 year and the other was an order to stop any kind of so called torture of detainees.
Nice, the first two things he does is help the enemy. That's a good start!
I guess he's trying to get the message out that we really are nice people over hear. |

He said all these things personally. He's the one who set the bar high and that's why they started calling him the Messiah ages ago.
I too hope he is successful at turning the US around but there is a lot of work ahead of him. Pandering to his far left wing kooks unfortunately is going to be a big part of his agenda and I don't think that'll help much. |

The sad part is that if he does fail as horribly as I hope the country will be a better place for it. Of course that means the lapdog media will report that the country is a better place because of Obama... |

| Re: Obama Haters??? I hate when people say they voted for him because they wanted to be a part of the "We are making history" movement.
It all became way to racial for me. If you didn't vote for him you were classified as racist. Well, I am not a racist even so I didn't vote for him. So what now?
What about focusing on the issues? Do people really believe he will change everything for the better? Do they not realize that fixing this country means fixing the world economy as well. Most problems are not only limited to the US.
I hate to say but closing Gitmo and pay freezes are a bunch of BS and didn't accomplish nothing. It might give the impression he is taking actions but in reality I laugh about them. Pay freezes for some employees that just got hired with wages in excess of 100G which most likely is twice as much as they made prior to getting hired and trying to save money after all the inauguration expenses is somewhat a joke. But again, it fools people.
Soon he will find out that there are forces at work that will make him jump through hoops and not the other way around. |

If you didn't vote then don't complain | If you asked people what they thought of the promises Obama was making but actually listed those of McCain, people supported them just because they thought they were from Obama. His supporters are lemmings; now where is that cliff I can point them towards. |

| Re: Obama Haters??? I am asking: Who really leads this country? YouTube - Obama Signs Executive Order to Close Gitmo
He turns while on the microphone and asks "Is that right?" to whoever it is that's up there with him.
Then when asked, what's the plan for the current detainees as far as where they'll go, he asks the same guy again, who says in the background that it's yet to be determined but will be outlined in the next executive order concerning that issue. Then he turns around and repeats word for word what the guy standing up there just told him.
It's incredible to me for a guy of his supposed stature and abilities to be standing there, while live on the microphone, and asking someone else what the answer are to questions concerning an executive order.... that he just signed! And then turning around and repeating it word for word into the mike.
Leader of the free world? I thought this guy was bright? He didn't seem to even know what's in his own executive order?
Can he not at least fake it? What a major rookie blunder. His lack of experience is already glaring. He's proving his idiocy in a hurry.
If it weren't for the damage he may do my country it would be hilariously funny. |

| Re: Obama Haters??? I didn't vote for him - too many BS promises that he can ever keep. His swift move from being the most liberal member of the senate to proclaiming to be a "moderate" made (and still makes) me suspicius as well.
Lost faith in the other party years ago. Eight years of majority rule and where did we get? Bush turned out to be a "big government" republican. The math of making government larger while cutting taxes just doesn't jive. I wish I could hate Bush but he's more pathetic than hateworthy. He let his advisors run the show and when hings got tough, they all jumped ship on him. I never bought the "he kept my family safe" claim either. If he would have paid a little more attention to Bin Laden before 9-11 maybe it would have never happened. And don't get me started on Iraq - successful revolutions come from within. It just isn't worth the lives and tax dollars spent.
Obama is here for four years and I hope he can at least stabilize our economy. Starting out by borrowing a trillion bucks (about $3500 per citizen)to piss away on infrastructure and new entitlement programs such as lowering the age for medicare eligibility and expanding unemployment coverage is the wrong approach. Building bridges and highways isn't a quick stimulus.
Rant over and sorry for the hijack. |

Torture is not a good thing but if hurting an evil killer to save thousands of innocent lives is the only way to get the job done....
The American people have a hoplesly naive and simple view of the world and how it works. They think we can be aall shiny and happy and never harm any one or do anything negative and the rest of the world will be kind to us. We have no stomach for doing the thinks that are actually needed to ensure the security of a country and its people from terrorists etc. Saddly there are things we should not know about. |

Torture is not a good thing but if hurting an evil killer to save thousands of innocent lives is the only way to get the job done. | This is a difficult issue for the U.S. Why? America (for years) has stood for freedom, equality (well, sort of), a country of law (that is, we follow the laws, and don't use force to get our way - again, mostly). One of the cornerstones of this view of America has been our publicly held position against torture. "Publicly" because given the right circumstances, coercing the "truth" overrides not getting to the truth (like what Doom wrote).
The problem with Gitmo is that it institutionalized torture (along with Abu Ghraid, et al) and thus, undermined what America stands for in the world.. It made it OK for torture to be used .. Just about for anything. The idea of govt supported torture drives right to the middle of why America was founded - people escaping different forms of suppression.
There are a lot of problems with using torture - I mean sooner or later, the person under duress is going to confess - if for no more reason than to side-step the torture. Just ask anyone who's gone through some form of SERE training..
So, while Obama has signed the order, the larger issue (represented by Gitmo) is when or when not to apply torture? And if applied, who allows it - who's accountable?
IMO, Gitmo represents a LOT of what the past administration was about : Closed, secret, do-whatever-we-want because we are accountable to no one.. Glad that chapter is closed; the rest of the book remains a work-in-progress..
