It was proven here in Canada when ALL h/guns had to be REREGISTERED (seems RCMP lost track of them for h/guns have been registered in Cdn since '34) along with all long bbl (rifles & shotguns) guns. ONLY the law abiding Cdn citizens registered their guns & SOME are holding back & trying to fight the Govt. Not one criminal person took the compulsory Cdn Firearms Safety Course or challenged & passed it with 82% or higher in both written & physical handeling before a paid f/arms inspector NOR did they fill out all the pages in Application for Possession & Acquisition License (PAL) with said $80.00 needed when purchasing any form of f/arm, ammo, etc. The Cdn Govt pays two cooky women to go to all the f/arms meetings including the UN!!!!!!!!

The article above does a bad job of giving meaning to the statistics they quote, however, they are significant. *shrug* Global gun control seems like a pipe-dream to me. But at the same time, I'm sick of hearing about gun-related deaths. Clearly the Canadian registration system is not the way to go but according to the stats, the USA free-for-all gun laws have proved highly ineffective as well. Perhaps we should allow guns but ban bullets. (tongue firmly planted in cheek) |

All Swiss men have a fully auto military rifle in their closests...100%(thus the highest gun ownership level possible), and some of the lowest crime rates in the world. There are also modern cases where cities have made gun ownership mandatory and crime rates decreased in the US. Gun control will never be the answer to crimes... |

I do not think that a responsible firearm owner as I am, contributes to the criminal statistics that you see regarding our crime rate. Thus, the numbers of guns in the USA has nothing to do with the crime rate. The numbers of CRIMINALS in the USA has everything to do with the crime rate. How many times does it take to make people understand that guns are NOT the problem. CRIMINALS are the problem. If anything should be banned, it should be our legal system for being soft on criminals. How many times have you seen citizens of Iraq, Afganistan and other non USA countries walking around with automatic weapons on the tele news? How many times have you seen children (say age 12 to 16) carrying these weapons? How many times have you seen that in the USA? Correctly identify the problem, then go after it. |
