Bin Laden surrounded?

Just read this on another board...

February 22, 2004
A BRITISH Sunday newspaper is claiming Osama bin Laden has been found and is surrounded by US special forces in an area of land bordering north-west Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Sunday Express, known for its sometimes colourful scoops, claims the al-Qaeda leader has been "sighted" for the first time since 2001 and is being monitored by satellite.

The paper claims he is in a mountainous area to the north of the Pakistani city of Quetta. The region is said to be peopled with bin Laden supporters and the terrorist leader is estimated to also have 50 of his fanatical bodyguards with him.

The claim is attributed to "a well-placed intelligence source" in Washington, who is quoted as saying: "He (bin Laden) is boxed in."

The paper says the hostile terrain makes an all-out conventional military assault impossible. The plan to capture him would depend on a "grab-him-and-go" style operation.

"US helicopters already sited on the Afghanistan border will swoop in to extricate him," the newspaper says. It claims bin Laden and his men "sleep in caves or out in the open. The area is swept by fierce snow storms howling down from the 10,000ft-high mountain peaks. Donkeys are the only transport."

The special forces are "absolutely confident" there is no escape for bin Laden, and are awaiting the order to go in and get him.

"The timing of that order will ultimately depend on President Bush," the paper says. "Capturing bin Laden will certainly be a huge help for him as he gets ready for the election."

The article says bin Laden's movements are monitored by a National Security Agency satellite.

On Thursday last week, General Richard Myers, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, said America had been engaged in "intense" efforts to capture bin Laden, who was believed to be hiding in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

But he insisted that the focus of the search had not narrowed for months.

Re: Bin Laden surrounded?

It's very possible. One of my good buddies is a force recon Marine in a new special forces unit that the USMC has put together recently. Not long ago they were told to redo their wills, and saddle up 'cuz they're "going in"

Re: Bin Laden surrounded?

That would be great news. How about just sending in a nice 500 pounder and getting it over fast.

Well according to the left-leaning mainstream media, we still have to wait a few months - until July or so - to get him. And when we do get him, there will be many reports on how we've had him for some time, but waited until an oppotune time to 'get him', just like with Saddam. You see, there's an extension of the vast right wing conspiracy that is mandating that we wait to capture him until summer to help Bush's re-election campaign (as if he'll need it).

In the real world, my Spec. Forces pal is finally home after being gone to Afghanistan, then Iraq, then back to Afghanistan (actually based at an ex-Red Army base in Khazakstian sp?). He has seen his little boy for a total of three weeks the past two years.
He says there is info to come out about Bin Laden soon, but they've all been told not to peep a word after what has happened before. This pic was taken over an area that wasn't Afghanistan (you see, we aren't supposed to be doing much in Pakistan, so this pic wasn't taken over Pakistan).
Do we really have him surrounded? That would be great. Do we already have him and are beating the piss out of him for more info? That would be even better.
I hope we do get him soon, and make a public mockery of him along with a very public execution. Screw the Geneva convetions, he doesn't deserve their protections, nor do he and his thugs live by them.

No word yet on whether Bob is going back to deal crack on the streets of Compton - where all our troops come from, right moron? - or will stay in his comfortable home here with his family.

Re: Bin Laden surrounded?

There were quite a few fertile green areas in Iraq before Sodom Insane drained them. They were the largest wetlands in the Middle East....over 7,000 square miles. Now there is less than 700 square miles....

Sodom drained them as part of his genocidal pursuits, and also to reach oil reserves under the swamps....

[sarcasm]
Unfortunately, some of these areas are being flooded and revitalized by coalition members in a continuance of their misquided quest for dominance of Iraq's oil reserves....

[/sarcasm]
