Re: Christian Apologetic books

I've always recommended Lee Strobel's A Case for Christ to those seeking to read a strong case for the authenticity of the Gospels. It's a great, interesting read, and it goes quickly. He also has A Case for Faith and A Case for a Creator, both of which I need to read. I have C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity, but I haven't read that yet either. I was just over half way through A Purpose-Driven Life the last time I put it down (sadly, you will get the best results by reading a chapter a day, as the book suggests). It's an excellent book for anyone who asks the question, "why am I here?"

Lee Strobel's testimony is good, because he was once on the other side of the debate and was trying to disprove the legitimacy of the Bible when he came to believe.

Perhaps this one's not directly related, but I found A Muslim and a Christian in Dialogue to be very interesting. It's also a fast read, and it shows the contrasts between Islam and Christianity in a friendly discussion between religious leaders of each respective religion. Many people wonder if Muslims and Christians pray to the same God, and this book should answer that question.

Re: Christian Apologetic books

ER,

Thats a different book from what I was thinking. Sounds great! I may need to get that one...

I just finished a book with my then fiance, now wife called The five Love LanguagesWhile its not an apologetic resource, it is an amazing book of information that helps you understand what people need to feel loved. It was SO cool to learn that she and I had the same love language too! Made it very easy to communicate love with each other because we can do what we feel expresses love and the other recieves it as love. One of the BEST books for married people I could ever recomend. He now has books for parents too.

Re: Christian Apologetic books

I've mentioned in another thread that one of my favorites is Disappointment With God by Philip Yancey. I'd recommend any of his books.

Recently finished The Problem of Pain by C.S. Lewis which was good, though not necessarily a "light" read.

Right now I'm bogged down in Foxe's Book of Martyrs which I wouldn't list in the category of apologetics. I'm reading the old English version, which is a bit of a struggle.

I have all those except for the first. I have listened to excerpts from problem of pain but not read it yet. You might enjoy the "Trail of blood" too based on your selections there. Its available on the net for download somewhere. A search will probably find it... I found one here
