| Jewish to Jewish Christian This is a pretty interesting article. The basic premise is that a Jewish father challenged his daughter's views that Christ is indeed the Savior. He ended up believing after reading the New Testament. With many things in religion, misinformation and prejudice often keep people from searching for the truth uninhibited. Stltoday |

| Re: Jewish to Jewish Christian You might want to do some reading Here. We had a speaker from this organization at our church once and it was fascinating. His talk, and info on the site, is about how Jesus and the new convenant are symbolized over and over in Jewish holiday tradition, but few ever realize it. |

| Re: Jewish to Jewish Christian I received a PM about this and I wasn't sure how to take it. Let me clarify what I said. I'm not calling Judaism or any other organized religion "misinformation". Rather, it's misinformation, prejudice, and negative experiences that often keep people from delving futher into their search for God. Growing up, Telchin said, he had ample reason to distrust Christians and Christianity.
In kindergarten he was called a "Christ killer," he said, and when he was 9 a woman ordered, "Get out of my way you dirty little Kike!"
Telchin said his mother explained the world this way: There was "them," the "goyim," or Christians, and there was "us," the Jews.
She told him that Christians hated Jews and to stay away from them. That's why, he said, when he sat down to read the New Testament he expected a book of hate.
"Where else could all that hatred come from?" he asked.
This was my reference. Misinformation about Christianity and/or negative experiences with "Christians" can shape a person's willingness to search for God's plan for our lives.

| Re: Jewish to Jewish Christian Did you know that by adoption, Christians inherit the same birthright as the Jews?
Messianic Jews are what started Christianity. They are awsome!
Bwhip, I think I heard a similar message about all the Jewish celebrations and how they portray Christ so beautifly from a Messianic Jew who came to our Church.. |

| Re: Jewish to Jewish Christian Some of this was discussed when The Passion of the Christ came out (anti-Semitism, etc). I just don't see how a Christian could hate a Jew. Obviously, a Christian shouldn't hate anyone, but Jews? How many times does the Bible call them God's chosen people? (of course, as figment pointed out Christians are also "sons of Abraham" thanks to Christ) Then there's the old "Jews killed Jesus" excuse. Shouldn't anyone that cares about Jesus at all realize that his sacrifice was a necessary part of God's plan? Oh yeah, let's not forget that Jesus himself was a Jew!
I'm probably not saying anything new here, but yes ER, it's a shame when "religion" (things done in the name of religion) hinders rather than helps people find the truth. |
