What is Heaven?

Seriously... what is it? What is your interpretation of Heaven, and why does everyone want to get there?

One belief is you are in direct presence with G** at all times. This leads to a peacefulness unobtained here.

Of course for me it is simple. It is the best the Good Shepherd would give to me which I am confident FAR exceeds what I deserve.

I actually like Infineon a lot better. It's for sure a more challenging circuit over all. The cork screw is neat at Laguna but for the most part it's a bunch of straight aways with some 90-ish degree turns in it. Infineon requires more rhythm to get it right.

If heaven or whatever your religion believes to be the after life is so great why don't more people make early reservations and go there. Sure would help out on space issues down here.

How can any place be better than our earth?

Let me help, or at least offer my thoughts. Our place, earth, is great. Lot's of fun, but also lot's of suffering, persecution, etc. Earth is only as good as WE make it.

Heaven, as it was described, is pure bliss. It is everything you desire and need, already taken care of, before you think you need it. It's everyone with total understanding and care for eachother. It's like earth, but without war, hunger, suffering, etc.

I think heaven is what we make it. It's what we desire, but it's more an emotion, a feeling. Much like the Creator has no defining gender, we are trying to put worldly words on something that is not of this plane of existance. The closest thing I have come to accept is, it is the time in my life when I am most comfortable. For me, well ... it's in my fathers arms, falling asleep on his chest. No where have I been happier, no where have I been more comfortable and safe.

I haven't loved anything since he died. I've enjoyed the hell out of the road, and certainly some women along the way, but yeah. Loved? Nope.

That is my heaven, my reward for this life. My driving force. In the end, I will once again be held by the one person that knew, that understood, that judged, that diciplined, that cared.

...perfect state of being, knowledge beyond our earthly understanding, truly content, perfect love....

The happiest you've been is no comparison - wedding, birth of a child, recognition from a parent, personal accomplishment, being "in love", whatever....

Forever.

Now, the question is, what can you do?

That's where Infineon and Laguna Seca come in, but for me, I'd rather ride a comet, or watch the birth of a star.... Of course, traveling at the speed of thought...

IMHO the very idea of heaven is anathema. People do very strange things to other people in the hope of heaven.

Look around and think of how this place would be without sin (of any kind), which only hurts someone, and that is what it would be like..... only much better than we could imagine.

Had to look it up, but sorry you think the idea of heaven is a curse, because it is a glorious gift.

I can understand the feeling based on the very misguided ideas people do have, and act on. Sin is a strong force in all religions, working to discredit the truth. There is a war between good and evil; not just a movie thing.

Heaven is just having faith is someone/thing higher, great healthly loving, good friends, a few bucks in the bank, full tank and clear weather. That is it.

It's someplace incomprehensible to the human mind. Streets lined with gold and any and every other precious jewel that has ever/will ever exist. A place where we get a white stone with a new name on it that only the Creator knows and will call us by it. A place where there is everlasting joy and happiness.

What do you think of CA speedway?

Ahem. Guinness? I love me a pint of the black stuff from time to time, but I have found there are other black stuff's. Try Murphy's. I think it's slightly easier going down than Guinness. There's also Beemish, but that's not for the novice.

Really interesting concept of what heaven is in Mitch Albom's book The Five People You Meet In Heaven. In the book it says that after you die you meet five people that have been in your life in the past, wether you knew them personally or not because of one of your actions it directly affected them. After you meet the five people and they teach you a lesson about your life you are able t go to your heaven. Because the book suggests heaven is what you want it to be, so for some it may be an beach with white sand for others the racetrack, but before you can go there you have to meet five other people in THEIR heaven.
