I'm currently planning to hold Fat Wed instead of Fat Tues. But I will do the 40 days.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Anyways, planned to do some drinking for my last day today. Instead I'm doing a bit of it tomorrow, and Thurs I go clean.

Historically Lent was a time to abstain from meat also (spaghetti and fish) Also fasting during daylight.

I adhere to that for the most part. I eat meat once a day, and eat 1 full meal with 2 small meals.
It sucks for the first week or so, and I'm hungry a lot, but once I get used to it I tend to realize that my body doesn't need all the calories that it usually gets!
The not eating meat on Friday during Lent is easy for me since I don't eat meat at all on Fridays during the year. I do it as a penance, in case anyone was wondering.

Ah. Screw that.

My Lent is just no booze.

Also, I'm not going to "feast", ie drink, on Sundays either.

Re: What are you doing for Lent?

The Lenten period is not 40 straight days from Ash Wednesday. Lent typically ends at midnight the day before Easter, but in the Roman Catholic church, it ends with the dawn of Good Friday (the Friday preceding Easter Sunday). The "40 days" comes from the fact that you don't count Sundays, as Sundays celebrate the Resurrection.

This year, I'm giving up all of my "extracurricular" women. But since I'm Catholic, I can see them on Sundays.

Coffee is gone for me (I jitter all day anyway) as well as fast food and soda. Green tea started the day (just a smidge of caffeine there) so I won't have a screaming headache.

Re: What are you doing for Lent?

Pathetic.

Bishops give you a day off from Lent for St Patty's day.

Doesn't speak well of religion IMO.

How's it going everyone?

Still no sauce for me.

Re: What are you doing for Lent?

Haven't had a coffee in 2 weeks. I've been substituting with the occasional chocolate milk and I've had a couple chai lattes.

The hardest is when my girlfriend gets up on Sunday morning and makes a fresh pot. Drives me nuts.

Yep a Holiday vs the boss

The gravitational pull of a Diet Mt Dew machine is now down to one gravity. It was tough be sick and run down with no caffiene But maybe I can keep from caffiene and enhance sheep-up 2006

I've given up any alcoholic beverage. This is going to be a real test because I'm going to a Dallas Mavericks game on Tuesday, and I've got a poker night coming up and opening day of baseball season.

At a biz dinner last week my boss, a Brit, kept calling me a "poof" or "poofta".

5 beers, oh wait, 4 and an iced tea......poof.
