Let 1000 years pass and look at scientology then. I bet a lot of what made Hubbard so controversial will have been long forgotten.
Steingar if you ever have the chance to read Battlefield Earth take the time to do so it's a great piece of fiction. Like analog I can burn through fiction at about 100 pages an hour which drives my wife nuts. Books are expensive nowdays. |

That is why you have libraries. |

| Re: Scientology Speaking of Scientology and the weirdness that is this 'religion,' Keith Code is a Scientologist. And as I was re-reading Twist of the Wrist II, I noticed that on the back cover, there is a shot of him on his 250cc GP bike back in '92. And wouldn't you know, his sponsor was "Dianetics" by that whack job L Ron Hubbard.
Interesting little tid bit for you for the day! |

| Re: Scientology "Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous." "If a man really wanted to make a million dollars, the best way to do it would be start his own religion."
-L. Ron Hubbard
And though other religions encourage people to donate money, I don't know of any (doesn't mean they aren't out there) that require people to pay money to become more enlightened through expensive auditing sessions. Believe in Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, etc...become more in-tune with yourself and God, and you can do it for free.
from Steingar's post: "He was a truly shameless self-promoter, and an inveterate liar to boot. The tales of drug use are mostly documented and quite true, and even more incredible things happened in the Sea Org, as they called it. A number of his followers (including his wife) went to Federal prison in the 70s because of their activities in the religion."
Funny also how Scientology is VERY anti-psychiatry, and anti-psych drugs as well, but when L. Ron Hubbard's body was examined (by the county ME I believe) he had an anti-psych drug in his system because in the last days of his life he was going batshit insane. |
