A Motorcyclist's Prayer

A Motorcyclist's Prayer

O God, I thank you for the marvel of a motorcycle - alive and powerful at my touch - a thing of tremendouss possibilities, wonderful and terrible.

Help me to acquire the skill to control it wisely - like a tool shaping a better life for myself and those around.

I thank you for the promise of adventure each time I start; the thrill of the open road - far places - strange sights - new friends.

Make me aware as I ride around signalling, stopping, waiting, turning, zooming ahead that I am not merely with THINGS - lorries, cars, bicycles, taxis - but with PEOPLE. People such as I know; people such as I am, perhaps, but not really wanting to.

Beuause I like people and above all I know how precious they are to you, let me be alert, courteous, patient, considerate of the rights of others on the road, gracious enough to give up some of my own rights. And always let me be careful, realising that another's pain would destroy my pleasure, another's loss would rub my gain, and the life I save is just as precious as my own.

Amen.

Amendment: And may all car and van driver that turn right without looking or indicating burn in hell!

Re: A Motorcyclist's Prayer

Before my bike and I hit the street,
I pray that my licence I will keep.
If I should crash before I arrive,
I pray the lord to keep me alive.
