| POLISHING CLUCTH BASKET check out where my basket has scuff marks on the inside of the tabs. i made a small flat block out of a paint mix stick an applied some 400 wet/dry paper with some WD-40 then went back over everything with some polishing compound. what are you all thoughts? i figure what i did might not hurt anything, if it would opperate a little smooth |

| Re: POLISHING CLUCTH BASKET Nice work.. Impact - probably none (good or bad). Those scuff marks are due to the clutch discs "pushing" against the basket. They are in one place most of the time - the only time they displace from that location is when you pull the clutch lever in..
This means all of the power from the engine is transmitting through the discs onto the basket - hence the scuffing..
So, polishing the marks out doesn't really gain (or lose) anything - it's not the same thing as smoothing out a valve seat or intake manifold, or polishing out a suspension valve.. |

| Re: POLISHING CLUCTH BASKET Should be ok as long as very little material is removed. Ducatis being dry clutches, hammer the crap out of the baskets and must be replaced often. Same marks you have except very deep and then the clutch hangs up. |

| Re: POLISHING CLUCTH BASKET i used pretty much a whole can of napa parts cleaner on the basket then used compressed air to blow it off- that didn't sound right. im doing some upgrades like a shift kit and slipper clucth. i plan on posting everything later. thanks |
