| Going to the Gap again. On Aug 10-13 me and some guys (and one girl) are going to the Gap. We are staying at the Deals Gap motorcycle resort. I wanted to know of any other good riding roads in the area. Most of the other people I'm going with are not on sports bikes so they may want to ride some other roads (I don't understand ).
If your going to be up there on those dates let me know. I haven't talked to anybody from the .org face to face.

| Re: Going to the Gap again. Ride the Cherohala Skyway. That's a road you and everyone else will enjoy much more than the Gap. It has huge sweepers instead of the tight, bite you in the butt curves that the Gap is known for. Don't get me wrong, more people die each year on the Cherohala than the Gap. It's dangerous because people under-estimate the decreasing radius turns. They either launch off the mountain or cross the center-line into an oncoming car.
As you make your way through the Mountains of TN and NC it's really hard to find a road that isn't fun. Just look out for gravel on the roads as well as water from the Mountains.
Like I said before, most of the stuff that happens up there happens because people under-estimate the territory and don't pay attention. When you start looking at scenery and not the road, you will go down. |
