| 5027 miles in 8 days on the FJR Had a great trip. Touched 14 states total on the trip. Took over 500 pics on the way through the Rockies, Yellowstone, Crater Lake, Highway 1 in CA, Yosemite, Hoover Dam, Vegas, etc.
Rode in rain several days and even a snow storm on the east peaks of Yosemite that left accumulated snow on my screen and ice on the fairings. Most of the weather was sunny and clear.
The FJR just gobbled up the miles with no problem. The bike is all stock with just a tank protector and rear trunk added.
I caught a rock in the radiator that caused a damage spot about the size of a nickel that resulted in complete coolant loss. I caught it as I was repositioning on the seat and my foot slipped off the peg because of the slippery antifreeze that had blown back. I mixed up some JB Weld and fixed it right up. Held the rest of the way from the ET Highway aka Highway 375 in northern Nevada to OKC.
The Bridgestone BT020s that were new before the trip worked great. The front is still in good shape but the rear is toast. Might have been the extra weight for the trip or the type of riding that did it in. I caught a nail in the rear tire going through San Francisco. The tire held up all the way back to OKC with no air loss at all.
I will try to post some of the better pics. Special thanks to the guys that pm'd me their phone numbers. I will try to hook you up with a thank you gift. |

| Re: 5027 miles in 8 days on the FJR Highway 96 in northern CA is a great road but a little unforgiving as there are very few guardrails on the road. Here is a pic. |

| Re: 5027 miles in 8 days on the FJR The FJR with a busted radiator in the middle of nowhere in northern Nevada. That is Nevada's finest stopping to help me. Really nice highway patrolman, even offered me his drinking water to refill the radiator. |

| Re: 5027 miles in 8 days on the FJR Not sure I'd be able to do that, but I admire you for doing so. Planning on putting all the pictures up on the net someplace? Would love to see them. |
