Midnighttour ride 07

I am new to this forum, so here goes. I attended the Chicagoland 'JerseyPine Cruisers' MIDNIGHTTOUR on Sat. 07-14-07. this is a very largely attended escorted tour from DesPlaines IL,(Maryville Acadamey ) to a destination not announced. Approx. 49-53 miles. It happened to leave around 11:15 PM, and about 50 minutes later we arrived at a too small roadhouse with live music, and refreshments for rent (beer in = beer out).
Never rode in one of these organized events until last night. We were police escorted non-stop to the expressway (90) west toward Rockford, IL.
It was really a mess of traffic. Dumb cagers not understanding where 1600 motorcycles came from or were going to, interrupted the line several times.
The columns of two could be seen for miles. The psychotic Harley bikers with loud pipes were about to give me a headache with those free flowing pipes. Gee wiz how can that be enjoyable?. I enjoyed the song of the four cylinder imports. Although the crotch rockets did drive a little erratically for this type of parade ride. In the end the music was good, the fellows loosened up a little, and only one person took a spill on some crappy gravel laden turn. (no ambulances were called) I couldn't hear my bike at all over those v-twits. My Honda PC800 was smooth as silk, as usual. I did redline it once trying to keep up with a Kaw 1000 of vintage year.
Doubt I will go on another ride like that again! Don't get me wrong, I will probably attend further fund raiser runs, but will opt out of the ride part.
I enjoy my cycle for other reasons than to show people how nutty and obnoxiously loud I can be.
