Sun 8-26-07 | Palomar Mnt to Laguna Mtn and Back

A few of us regulars will be headed out Sunday morning from the Coast through Escondido. I usually stop in and grab a starbucks at the southwest corner of Rancho Sante Fe Rd and San Marcos Blvd at 9am - then ride out by 9:30. The plan is to head up to the top of Palomar Mountain, grab some breakfast and check out the mass of bikes that collects up there. Then ride our way inland, either tapping the desert or running the ridge over to the Lagunas for some lunch in Pine Valley by the 8 Freeway around 2-3pm. Will most likely do the trip in reverse on the way back depending on time and weather. There is a small chance of scattered showers in the southerly areas. There are lots of break away points in case of rain, for those who either dont want to take such a long run or just dont have all day. The pace is quick where visibility and road conditions are safe and polite where other motorists are concerned. It is not reckless so dont bother if your going to pass on blind corners or put other bikes in jeoprody. We're not snobs so you might find a little bit of everything from Dyna's to Ducati's... 600's to Literbikes .. who knows, maybe a Moto Guzzi or two. We usually go 100 miles per tank and fill up three times.

Didn't catch the post in time to join you. Me and a couple of buds would have joined you at Palomar from the Yuma side for that ride. I'll keep an eye out for the next one.

Its all good. The weather stalled out and hit us on sunday instead of saturday . Both Palomar and the Lagunas had flash flooding so it was a wash (no pun inteanded). We'll get another one here in the next month and try and get it posted a week in advance. Believe it or not, its hard to get people to commit a week in advance in SoCal!

Tell me about it! There are actually a bunch of riders in Yuma and we've planned and cancelled more trips than we've made. The only time we got to Palomar there were four of us out of an original 6 or 7.
