I knew I should have looked here first. I ended up making just that run, I probably saw you on the road. We are going out again on sunday Oct 7th.

I will be at the Rancho Sante Fe/ San Marcos Blvd Starbucks from 9-9:30am. The plan is to gas up in Escondiodo, run up Palomar and have breakfast at Mothers Kitchen around (11-12pm). From there run by Lake Henshaw and to Julian and Gas up. Due to such good weather in the desert, we are running the Great Southern Overland Route of 1879 from Julian to Ocotillo (1-2pm, gas up) and in to Pine Valley for Lunch. From there its the Sunrise Highway back to Julian and through Ramona back to Escondido around 5-6pm). See you there on on the way if you can make it.
