Sun Oct 7th - Palomar, Julian, Ocotillo, Sunrise Highway and back

Sorry for the late notice everyone, most of you got txt messages already... we just got back from a Palmoar ride today. We are going out again tomorrow, Sunday Oct 7th.

I will be at the Rancho Sante Fe Rd/ San Marcos Blvd Starbucks from 9-9:30am in San Marcos. The plan is to gas up in Escondiodo, run up Palomar and have breakfast at Mothers Kitchen around (11-12pm). From there run by Lake Henshaw and to Julian and Gas up. Due to such good weather in the desert, we are running the Great Southern Overland Route of 1879 from Julian to Ocotillo (not Ocotillo Wells, 1-2pm, gas up) and in to Pine Valley for Lunch. From there its the Sunrise Highway back to Julian and through Ramona back to Escondido around 5-6pm). See you there on on the way if you can make it.

What a great ride! For anyone who hasn't run the Great Southern Overland Route of 1879 from Julian to Shelter Valley to Ocotillo - its a great road filled with suprises!!! It is 110 miles from Julian to Pine Valley so start with a full tank as there is no gas in between! The desert temps were non existant - absolutely perfect weather. Sunrise Highway however, froze my @$#%# off!!!!
