Where to Go in Florida? I need a little advice from our Florida members. Story: My wife and I sometimes rent a motorcycle when we travel. The last time we were in the St. Petersburg area we rented and went North on US 19 thinking we might make it to Cedar Key. What a mistake that was. I have never seen a longer line of traffic lights, pawn shops, fast food joints, car dealerships and tattoo parlors in my life. Anyway we’re going to be down there again in April. If you were going for a day ride outbound from Tampa / St. Pete where and how would you go?

Re: Where to Go in Florida? i live off of hwy. 19, inglis, fla. about 40min. south of cedar key. there some very nice roads north of here, gainesville area also south & east toward leesburg. east of ocala, north & south through the ocala natnl. forest is good also with many springs & lakes on over to daytona. if you've got an interest in an airboat eco- cruise or fishing trip get ahold of me. finally if you're one of those snots that put down harley riders so bad & calling me stupid i'll have some special places to take you & look at some hungry gaters!

Re: Where to Go in Florida? No problem … in fact we rent a Road King whenever possible. Two years ago we rented one from Street Eagle out of Largo, FL. (We’ll probably do the same thing this time) That’s when we hit the US 19 problem. I’ve been hearing about the Ocala area and might just give it a try. Do you recommend shooting up I75 North as opposed to SR-589? Is there anything interesting South and West of Tampa? Zolfo Springs or Arcadia maybe? (I’m just picking places at random through Google Maps)

Re: Where to Go in Florida? It's in the other direction you are looking to travel but the area of Clermont and Sugarloaf mountain is the best Central Florida has to offer. It's also just down the road from the Ocala National Forest area. Lake and Marion county are the most scenic areas in the middle of the state.

Re: Where to Go in Florida? Not to hijack the thread, but anyone familiar with the panhandle? It looks like work is taking me to Pananma City for a year or so. All I remember of Pananma City is the strip, and, well, getting sick off of hotel balconies and such.
