| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience The Adelaide Hills right on the outskirts of the city are full of some pretty amazing roads but it's regularly littered with dead and injured riders and drivers that fail to give it the respect it deserves. One side is granite cliffs and the other usually drops to the river.
Tight, dirty, bumpy country roads at night in the rain are what do it for me. If I'm on slicks that adds to it brilliantly. There's usually no traffic or wildlife when it's that bad so the road is your own.

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience Any of the roads around Deals Gap are first rate. Unfortunately, the Tail of the Dragon(US129), is way crowded with noobs and cops most of the time. If you find a clear run at it, all is right in the world. |

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience Take the 'A' road from Dijon to Trois in mid France. Twisties to start with, long, long straits, just enough rolling ground to make you concentrate, 90 miles of the best road I have ever ridden. Oh, and the Nurburgring.....truly terrifying for the first timer, still a challenge for the experienced. |

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience If I were ever to go to Europe I would have to ride the Nurburgring.
Coming home without having done so would be a motorcycling sin :-)

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience Well, it's not the 11 mile "Tail "O" the Dragon", but it works for these parts. HWY 36, simply unbelievable. This is not my bike cause I rarely stop to take pics. It's just a bike next to a sign post on 36.
But in a few weeks, I'll be heading for the passes. HWY 4, 108, 120, 89, 88. To say these passes are number two on the list would be a shame. So I guess I don't have a favorite. |

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience As to experience(s) in no particular order:
#1 I just rode the Blue Ridge Parkway end to end including Skyline Drive. Slow speed limit and not overly challenging but a fantastic ride for scenery and critters.
#2 I rode Miller Motorsports for 3 days then swapped bikes and did a loop through Yellowstone National Park then followed that with a loop around 4 corners (for those outside the US that is an area where Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah meet)

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience My favorite is Lime Creek Road, simply because it is the most accessible, and I can run it every time I ride because it is 1 mile away from my house. 6 miles of delightful turns. At night it is way fun and a bit scary. Dodging coyotes and jackrabbits, trying to see the road in a hairpin when your light is pointing straight and the road is going the other way in pitch black...ah I like it. It's slow speed (don't need higher than 2nd gear unless you're a maniac) and very technical.
For a bit longer ride but not all day, a jaunt down 1431 to Marble falls. Not great but fun and also accessible to my house. In fact it starts near the end of Lime Creek Road. High speed sweepers. Too many hard ass good ol' boy cops (Williamson county, beware!) and quite a bit of traffic, with too many driveways and intersections, still a nice road if you're there.
THE BEST roads I've ever experienced in Texas were the Three Sisters near Fredericksburg and Kerrville, the hill country of Texas. FM roads 337,336, & 335. Make a 100 mile loop of them and be delighted. Beware a portion of 337 is still not paved, I think a couple of miles worth. Slow throught that part. Some cattle guards as well (hey it's Texas, we gotta have our steaks and burgers). Sports Bikes Here are some action shots from a pro-photog that sets up at various hill country spots. Cool stuff.
That's all I got. Travelled some great roads in Washington state, but I can't remember what they were called.

Including MT and ID there is a stretch for 107 miles with only two straits which are about a quarter of a mile long. Then turn toward Grangeville and it is an other 46 miles of pure corners until the last two miles into Grangeville. Averages two deaths a month. During the week before and after Sturgis ambulances and wreckers just sit up there waiting to scoop up "giant squids." I rode it twice in one weekend back in June and my knees were so sore I almost couldn't go back to work. Very fun road. |

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience Mines road - Del Puerto Canyon Road. Round trip from Livermore out to Patterson using this rural highway is about 120 miles of canyon road with minimum traffic. I did this almost weekly with a buddy when I lived up in the Bay area, and I say it is a perfect canyon road with a good mix of slow and fast turns. During the 120+ mile run, you'd see less than 5 cars total.
Here in So Cal, there are many nice roads, but most are busy with cars and cops. I have yet to find such a nice long stretch of roads perfect to test the limit of your (street) riding ability... I miss that road. |

| Re: whats YOUR ultimate biking road...experience The roads up here are great loads of twisties and great straights, also fairly quiet. One good aspect of the roads here is the fact that visibility is great.
