| Re: Safety vs Heat So how do you guys deal with the heat factor in the summer? Most of the protective gear I see out there is just extremely hot looking, and when temps get 100+, how do you deal? or do you have other protective gear that is lighter?
Or do you just not ride during th summer? |

I wear the same gear, I still ride, all I want, I just sweat in the process... |

| Re: Safety vs Heat G force is right, I forgot to mention that. By all means, avoid cotton!
Wear some form of coolmax, even if its long sleeve you'll be better off. The trick to being comfortable is to have a moisture transport layer! Then even when you sweat, you'll be comfortable! |

| Re: Safety vs Heat After much consideration, a couple of weeks ago I ordered some TourMaster Cordura gear, that you can open up vents on during hot weather. I like that it's water-resistant and good for cold or hot weather, since we have both here. Should be here any day from Kneedraggers.com. |

| Re: Safety vs Heat Take the safety route and sweat, if you ever go down you'll be thankful. I used a Roadcrafter suit, it's vented but still damn hot in the summer, we get 20+ days over hundred each summer here. When I would leave work to go home I would fill the pockets w/ ice (we have a free sode machine here). Like others have said, wetting down your clothes helps. And drink a lot of water. |

| Re: Safety vs Heat Perfed leather or textile gear.
Short/long sleeve cotton shirt underneath.
Small (1/2 pint) squirt bottle filled (and on long rides refilled) with water.
Works for me |

| Re: Safety vs Heat I find a winter wet weather jacket with a zip out lining works really well if you take the lining out. The jacket breathes well enough and you stay fairly cool.

| Re: Safety vs Heat I use the JoeRocket Mesh jacket. About $120.00 and comes with padding.
I was always skeptical about the safety factor of the jacket but certainly thought it has got to be better then a T-shirt only. As my friend can lay claim too, you can go down at a speed around 55-60 with minimal damage to the jacket or person. |

Or if its too hot for gear then I just sit on my bike in the driveway practicing full tucks |

| So do you have any pics of these 'practice sessions' when you are wearing no gear?
EDIT: Preferably from various angles, to confirm the correct positioning. |

Didn't mean to steal your thunder Chain, just didn't do search for your original post cause I was already lookin at Vanson's site on another window, so I linked it instead. You are the man, and thanks to you I will be purchasing one soon( although my wife doesn't appreciate your findings as much as I do ). |

| Re: Safety vs Heat I bought a JR Pheonix jacket as soon as they came out, then road tested it that fall. For me it held up great. I was at Deal's Gap doing around 50 and lowsided with no damage to me, the jacket had a hole in the outer layer, but I wasnt touched. For those of you who dont know me, I weigh about 300lbs, so there was alot of weight on the jacket. I bought a Reactor to replace it when they came out, but if I had it to do over, I would buy the Pheonix again because the leather flaps around and the color runs.... They work for me for city riding, but when I go out soley to ride, I wear leathers.
