Anyone got suggestions on how to ...

wire up a cigarette lighter socket to a 929. I got questions like:

where to mount it?
where to get the socket? I've heard: marine stores and BMW has one
how to wire it?

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

I'm still trying to figure out where I can mount some windshield wipers and a seat belt.

Re: Anyone got suggestions on how to ...

Do you want one that is a cigarette lighter outlet (the plug insert being a lighter core that heats up) or just a power outlet?

If just a power outlet, PM HondaGalToo. She hooked one up on her 929.

Re: Anyone got suggestions on how to ...

I hooked one of those up on my 929. I use it to power my XM radio when I'm on trips. It's also good for powering a GPS or charging your cell phone while on the road. Hadn't thought about a coffee pot...hmmm!! I got the socket at Radio Shack. Autocom sells a wire with a pig tail on it that plugs into one of the plugs under the seat, then I wired the positive end of the power plug to that. The negative wire goes on the negative battery terminal. I have the socket stashed under the rear seat. If you don't get the Autocom plug, just find a wire that has power that gets turned off when you turn off the key. I originally had it wired to the license plate light wire, but that wire was too thin to hold a good connection, so I got the Autocom plug.

If you need pics, let me know. I won't be able to get them posted for a week or so, as I'm heading for Grattan.

Re: Anyone got suggestions on how to ...

I wire all of my bikes with the Battery Tender pigtail....then use it as a power point for my vest or other electrical accessories. Made a short adapter for my Widder and tankbag accessories....GPS/Communicator/Detector...etc...

I've been wanting to try the "Powerlet", because it looks like a good solution, but haven't taken the time...
