Mag-Knight experiences?

LOL, get a load of this. I discovered that I've got $110 sitting around in my PayPal account for who knows how long.

Must have been residual proceeds from my FZ1 parts liquidation five or six weeks ago.

Not the sort of man to let money sit around when there is a motorcycle in the garage just begging to be further modded, I ordered one of these.

The full tank protector that is. Sadly, they don't have a dove gray MS4 paint match, so I went with matte black. Costly for a tank protector, but the upshot is it's easily removed/reapplied, provides excellent coverage of the rear of the tank as well as the leg cutouts, and it should last forever... meaning if a guy decides down the road that Ducati ownership is too expensive or maintenance intensive, he could easily recoup some of his money by pulling the Mag-Knight and peddling it on a discussion board or eBay.

Here's my bike with the 'carbon-look' variant. Not my cup of tea as I'm actively avoiding carbon overload on my scooter, but you'll get the idea what a matte black unit will look like (it'll look nice, at least I think so).

It's an unpopular product on the VFR list, but I gather that's because it doesn't fit well on that bike. The pic of the monster tank looks like it might be a better application on that bike.

Man, we are missing a huge $$$ opportunity here for a "Chain's next bike" pool.. He's already hedging. Maybe it's a fear of commitment..

Edit: As soon as Honda does a substantial revision of the Super Hawk -OR- they make a naked RC with sit-up ergos and tubular handlebar, I'm back to Riding Red! Imagine an RC in Tuono trim.

I bought one of their smaller ones for my 929 and never could get it to sit flat on the tank. Always had bubbles and wasn't smooth. Mag Knight even mailed me another one to try and same problem. Now they are just large frig. magnets.

I bought one for the 954. They did not have one that matched the Titanium 03 model so I bought a black one. After a few weeks, I decided I did not not like the way it looked. It made the bike ugly looking.

So I took it off and put on a tankslapper. Much better. Looks great.

BTW: anyone looking for a mag-knight for a 954?

I have one in the origional box!!!

You know how I hate to be the contrarian...

The MagKnight on my VFR has over 30k on it with no problems. I wear a Stich (abrasive) a lot, so it has kept my tank in decent shape. I screwed up when I bought it and got the carbon pattern....looks like ass...should have got the plain black one.

Would I buy it again?
Probably not....tankslapper does a similar job and preserves the look of the bike....

I have the carbon-look one on my black/silver 954 and I think it looks good and works well. It's quite thick and stiff (heh heh), and takes some effort to apply correctly. Ideally you need to work it so the bubble and corner "puckers" stay flat - a hair dryer and a lot of sunshine did the trick for me. I would buy it again.
