| I can't believe it finally came! Wow - after seven months (!) of waiting, my custom leather suit finally arrived today.
I ordered it back in January from a small SoCal manufacturer called DVX leathers, on the recommendation of a fellow .orger who had also ordered one. Unbelievably good price for a custom one-piece - just $600.00. Paid 50% down, with the balance to be paid on completion.
It was supposed to take just four to six weeks, and the guy kept promising they were getting close, but trackday after trackday came and went with no leathers. Apparently he got way more orders than expected, had problems with overseas manufacturing, shipping, customs, got into financial trouble and ticked a lot of people off. He really started getting flamed bad on several biking forums where people had ordered his stuff.
I had a feeling that the guy had very good intentions and was trying to do the right thing, but just got in way over his head.
Today they finally arrived, and they turned out great. It's my own custom design (borrowed a lot of ideas from another design I liked), with colors to match my bike, as you can see. Red, black and light gray. They really fit great. They definitely need stretching in a few spots to allow me full range of movement through the legs and shoulders, but I imagine that's pretty normal. The quality of the leather and stitching really looks top-notch. I put my Teknic sliders on since he didn't send me any with the suit.
Because of all the delays, he didn't make me pay the balance, and he also paid me back for leathers I had to rent at STAR school back in March when they were supposed to be ready. Bottom line is I got them for a very low price, which made it somewhat worth the wait!
Here's some pics. The one from the rear is a little blurry, but my daughter was just learning how to use the camera. |

| Re: I can't believe it finally came! Wow that worked out great..... Suit looks goood... I guess you'll be running around in it for the next few days to break it in.
You kinda look like the red power ranger maybe you can work a few birthdays while you break it in to raise money to do some "chain like mod to your bike"

I'm wondering if he had the arms put forward enough? Kinda looks like it's not set up right when you are on the bike....drawing a little tight? Sorry, just an observation. Glad you finally got your suit . Some of my friends are still waiting on theirs.
SPEED. | |

I have my 929 already and it's fine and all... but I'd prefer a twin with all the mods on it. Sooooo... When do you go away on vacation? Perhaps I'll ride my 929 out to Idaho and your Duc back.
I think I may save up for the Duc 748 (or whatever it will be by the time I'm done saving) as my next bike. How does the power compare to a 600cc? They are in the same class on the track, but how does it REALLY compare? What is the 'real world' opinion of the power? |

What is the 'real world' opinion of the power? | The Duc has about the same HP, lots more torque, and with the stock gearing being so tall they definitely have some impressive top end. On the straights yesterday at the track, my buddy was chasing me on his 600, and couldn't believe I was hitting nearly 150 MPH without even getting into sixth gear. The new 600's are a little lighter weight than the 748 or 749, but I sure love the narrow profile of the twin, the torque, the sound, the handling, the looks... |

| Re: I can't believe it finally came! Glad you got your suit. I had the same thing happen with Vanson, just seemed to take forever! Ordered it in January and I think I DID finally get it later in march or so...
nothing beats a custom suit though, I haven't spent so much money on a piece of riding gear but been sooo pleased and comfy in it! |

if that happens again let me know, I'll go down there and beat them up for ya, I knew they were only like 45 minutes away from me but I actually went by them yesterday on the way to a friends so I know exactly how to get there. let me tell you they spend all their money on the suits cause the building looks kinda like a typical run down factory just with the Vanson logo on it.
