I was considering making some hard bags or my RR. But a few weeks ago I thought I saw a 1000RR with hard bags go by. I was in a motel parking lot with my helmet on. By the time I got the helmet back on to chase him, he was long gone (probably made a turn I didn't see). I looked all over the internet, but I can't seem to find them. Maybe I am just blind, or maybe that guy had the same idea about making some, and was much faster

I know it was either a 600 or 1000 from the undertail exhaust. And it was all black, and the bags matched. I would really like to find something like this. Because of the shape of the tail, the soft bags I have don't fit very well. The tank bag I have is too large for my tank, so I can't lean forward at all. I have it strapped to my tail now, and it works great there.

I may start doing a 100+ mile commute each way to work every day, and would like something I can lock up and keep dry. Add to that when I travel. I will be riding 400+ miles each way every weekend starting this month for about the next 3 months. So it would be nice then too.

You sure it wasn't a gloss black VFR with the factory hard bags?

I haven't seen any hard bag setups for the 1000 or the 600. Could have been a custom job.

I am curious what brand are your soft bags?

I have been planning on getting some Cortech sport bags from Tourmaster to match my tail bag. Thus I am curious on what doesn't fit well

I also have never seen hard bags for a 1000RR originally was looking to go interceptor because I liked the sport nature and factory hard bags. But I could not convince myself on the linked brakes. No regrets on going 1000RR though

His bags are Nelson/riggs. I have the same bags that I use once a year on my blade. They worked great for the Laguna Seca trip we just made. I put no- slip rubber matting from Costco under the bags to keep the scratches down.

I was planning on going Tourmaster since they come with neoprene padding for the same reason.

Since I have a bobbed tail and short stock turn signals, I built a small bracket out of angle aluminum and attached it to the license plate bracket (centered, left to right). This gives the bags some support and keeps them from crushing my turn signals when cinched down. I also put rubber caps on the aluminum ends to keep from tearing the bags. TourMaster stuff is really good stuff. I think you will be happy.

I use the Humpback series and LOVE them...the panniers and tankbag. Great product and fits the lines of sportbikes nicely

Close, but no. I know it wasn't a VFR rear end, you can recognize that miles away. And the bags had an odd angle like the ones you showed, but the odd angle is up at the top of the bags, instead of towards the middle.

Yep, those are Nelson Riggs. But mine did come with the neoprene padding to protect the paint.

I will have to explore that idea. I have some laying around in the garage. Still doesn't cover the locking abilities, but it is better then nothing.



I will be riding from San Diego to back up here (about 500 miles) just about every weekend for 3 months starting in about a week. So I am sure I will get good use out of whatever luggage I go with. Right now, I have been using my tank back as a tail back (the matchin Nelson Riggs bag). I am sure that is enough storage for just a weekend trip back home.

My goal is to ride all lower 48 states and this is not a day trip. And I could get a beamer but riding the Mts in CO and plains in MT, scream 1000RR not to mention all the other great locales in this fabulous country. So yes I am very near ordering my Tour Master bags just waiting for an email from TourMaster support with more info on mounting.

This is my daily driver, I can tell you how many times I have driven a car so far this year:

February - drove my Trooper to work to bring home some larger items.

March - Drove my wife to work because she new she would be too tired to ride or drive the next morning (after her 12 hour shift).

July - Wife and I rode her Shadow to Arizona to get my Bronco back. I drove the Bronco most of the way back here. I then drove it to work one morning (when I was working a quarter mile from home) to show the people I work with. I then drove it to get something large the following week, but I didn't make it before the place closed.



That is it for this year so far. When my Buell broke, I started shopping around. I looked at the VFR, but decided I wanted a litre this time around, and will go sport touring next. However, now that I know I will be going longer distances then I thought I would, I want the bags too.

I will get the VFR next, in I guess about 5 years.

I know I may be reviving a very old thread, but hopefully some of you are still subscribed.

I'm thinking of getting soft bags for my 929 from Motopack (check them out by the way, www.motopakluggage.com... much cheaper than oxford or tourmaster and I already have their tailbag, which is real nice).

Anyway, I don't know what to do about the turn signals. What I have are stock, and they'll need to be relocated. I'm going to get some short stalks, but where do I put them to keep them out of the way? Any advice or pics would be helpful.

I have the oxford tank bag, it is awesome. The quality and look of it are 2nd to none. If I was planning a big trip, I would get the saddle bags also. Oxford rocks

No doubt. I have their magnetic tank bag. It's a great unit. My only complaint with Oxford is that the stuff is pricey. Well designed and well built. Who knows, maybe worth the money? But it would also be worth the money if it were cheaper.

Oxford do a "first time" range that is cheaper than their "sports" line (at least here in the UK they do). However they're much poorer quality than the "sports" products. So I guess you get what you pay for

I saw a guy today who had the full set of RKA... tank bag, tail bag and sport saddlebags. They looked pretty good. The saddlebags are relatively small. The tank bag expands I'm sure but the tail bag also was smallish. I'm sure you can get a bigger one. Why not use the full space back there with more capacity.

Then again, I like to travel light so they looked pretty good!
