I put mine on the stand if I take the time... I feel its 'safer' on the stand myself... And as conqsoft said, it takes up less space when its upright... Stand GOOD!

To the question of sticking your bike on the stand, I do it most of the time for two reasons. One, I live in Japan so earthquakes and tremors are common: I don't want to come home and find the bike on its side. The second, call me paranoid, but I like to have the oil in the engine level before cranking the engine most of the time.
