| OK I admitt it! I was a SQUID in My younger years.Even after laying down my VF700F Intercepter. But as I got older & wiser<??? I have been on this board for a little while because I got back into riding after several yrs outta it. After reading alot of post I decided to get a jacket. I didn't want leather so I got the Fliedsheer Mach 2. My wife has ordered me one for Xmas.Should be here tomorrow as per UPS tracking. I currently have a HJC Street fighter that match my 01 929,am getting Shoei TC-5 Voltage for Bday in April from her to match the 954. You guys convinced me to wear gear.I've been wearing gloves too.Hope I never have to test the gear either ,BUT you never know. |

I can't believe the nuts here in PA, now that they recinded the helmet law.

| Re: OK I admitt it! Kudos to you for wearing gear!
Once you get used to wearing at least a good lid, jacket, gloves and motorcycle specific boots, you'll feel absolutely naked without them. Late last riding season I took another step in the right direction and added a back protector as well; now I don't ride without it.
Be safe, ride well. |

| Re: OK I admitt it! I went to Hooters for bike night last Friday. I met friends of my friend there. After the conversation, they left wearing no gear what so ever. Not even lids. I found out right after that they were parents of 2 year old twins. It really pissed me off.
People, wear your gear...... Someone else might depend on you. |

Tennis shoes will be gone sooner than jeans (I did the blue jean distruction myself one time so it ain't hear say). If possible go leather, if not mesh gear is still far superior (get the First Gear equivalent of JR Phoenix pants)

My jeans & sneakers held up fine but the Tee shirt Well let's say @ 55mph rolling down the road didn't fare too well. Had a Simpson Bandit on then.ALways wear a Snell rated lid. I got friends that fool themsleves W/Kmart type helmets cause they're too cheap to buy the real deal. Some girl T boned an Old lady (who was @ fault) on her Harley W/1/2 lid. In front of my wifes' office a couple of wks ago.Ended up in hopital W/head injuries. But she "Looked Cool B4"

This past summer I did wear my jacket a hell of a lot more than I did last year. granted it wasn't as hot this year but it feels better with some protection on. I would never wear one of those cheapy wal-mart type helmets, now that I have a Suomy I couldn't even imagine going back to something such as my old HJC (which isn't really old, only had it a year before I bought the Suomy) I can "look cool" with a sweet looking helmet, no one wants to see my ugly mug anyway.

Cause when I was a kid I read how the snell foundation got started when I lived in Me in a snowmobile mag. He died due to inferior helmet racing a sled. His parents started the snell testing afterwards.Always had 1 rated by them since |

| Re: OK I admitt it! It came yesterday! Alot heavier then I expected W/liner.Nice fit & quality.I was initially gonna go for the JR RIO.But after you guys talked about this one glad I did a little research.Unfortunately I'll probably not get to wear it till spring time as I'm a FAIR weather rider! As a 16 yr old my 1st road vehicle was a 73' CB450DOHC CandyApple Red.Had that for a yr B4 I bought a cage. After riding in the cold, rain for that yr. I never will do it a again strictly for pleasure. |

I think I look cooler in my gear then I would riding around in a tshirt and sun glasses
Besides preferated Astars jacket and pants and my Roam boots arent really all that hot even in some pretty strong sun. Although the boots can get a little on the hot side since they are waterproof and dont breathe all that well but I feel totally safe and thats all that matters |

| Re: OK I admitt it! At some point in the heat of summer I pulled into the San Ysidro gas station wearing my HRC one-piece. It was well into the high 90's and hotter than hell. Three cruiser guys were sitting under the awning in thier respective white t-shirts, leather vests and fingerless gloves sippin on gatorades. Gotta give em credit for that at least...
The conversation went something like this:
[Them] Damn, you look like you're boiling in that suit!
[Me] It's warm, but my CamelBack helps me out quite a bit.
[Them] God, I'd never ride if I was going to get that hot.
[Me] I'd rather be warm and mildly uncomfortable, yet still have my skin and fingers.
[Them]..quizzical looks on all three.
Wear your gear. All the time, every time. The skin you save IS your own.
Edit: spelling
