Shoei Sizing????

I'm gonna get that helmet I posted earlier. Does the Shoei run a little bigger or smaller than the HJC? I have a HJC AC-10 now, and I went to the shop yesterday and the MD fits snug and the Lg was a little wobbly at the bottom around my cheecks. I'm thinking the large wil be fine, but thought I'd ask.

I think my hat size is 7-1/4 or one size bigger.

Thanks

SB

Re: Shoei Sizing????

If by snug you mean squishes your cheeks together slightly giving you a "woodchuck" look, then that is perfect. As long as there are no "hotspots" or pressure points around the crown of your head, then that is the one you need. If you get one that is even a little loose now, once the liner breaks in it will be way too loose.

Re: Shoei Sizing????

Let me rephrase the question..

I'm buying the Shoei, I have an HJC.... I tried on HJC's yesterday and think mine is a md. But I'm not sure how the Shoei sizing is. Thats what I'm wondering, if the Shoei sizes run a little smaller, then the lg Shoei should fit fine. If the Shoei runs bigger then I need a md.

What's your head size and helmet size wearing a Shoei.

My head size is a 7-1/4 or tad bigger.

Re: Shoei Sizing????

I've had one HJC and 2 Shoeis. All have been the same size, but the Shoeis were just a little more on the snug side than the HJC

Re: Shoei Sizing????

SB, I currently have a Shoei XS-P II. It is a "L", 7 3/8 - 7 1/2, 59-60 cm. My watermelon measures about 22 1/4" (way short of Chain's 36" ). However, 59-60 cm equates to 23 1/4 - 23 1/2" - go figure. My helmet fits perfectly - no pressure points, not sloppy in the least. So just make sure you try one on before purchase.

And yes, I just did all this research for you!

Thanks Baccy, thats what I needed!!! Mine measures 22-1/2 with a regular measuring tape, so if I had one of the cloth ones it might be 22-1/4. Either way, looks like the L should fit fine. Thanks for your help, and the research, you're the best...

Aw, shucks... I'm still a little concerned though. You've tried on the actual model you want, right? If so, go back and read NinerPilot's post above, then go back and try it on again, paying attention to comfort details. Leave it on for a bit - if any uncomfortable pressure is gonna crop up, it will do so fairly soon. The reason for my concern is that I don't know how differently various models, even of the same brand, may fit. Definitely go with the snuggest fit (without discomfort, of course) that you can.

I can't.... ebay, for a really good price! Couldn't find anyone around here selling Shoei's either.

Good luck, SB. It's a pig-in-a-poke at best, mail ordering, i.e. Have you worn it around the house for awhile (never mind the crazy looks you get from your SO)? Hope it works out...

Re: Shoei Sizing????

If it's not too late, see if the seller can email you the size in cm. There's a little sticker just under the edge of one of the inside pads. Check your head size in cm. and compare; you should then be good to go.

The reason is my size is 56cm. or 22" and my Shoei ZII is S. I know it's a different model so this might not apply, but I think it's best to eliminate the L, M, S guesswork if at all possible.

Good Luck!
