A little dissapointed in A* quality

This year for xmas I got a pair of Alpinestars alloy gloves for one of my friends since he's one of those guys that almost never wears any gear. In the little amount of riding time that we could get in here in the midwest, somehow a small hole has worn through the left thumb (from the turn signal i guess?). I was just wondering if anybody else had a pair of these gloves and if were they that bad?

Call them, they are very good about standing behind their product.

I've had several pairs of their gloves and boots over the years and never had a problem. I would assume this is an isolated incident rather than indicative of Alpinestars quality.
