| Re: Answer HoNESTLY!!! Zeeman - which model of Knox is that?
I bought a Knox Ricochet but found it impossibly uncomfortable. It caught under the back of my helmet and I couldn't twist my back to look over my shoulder. So I stopped wearing it. I figured not being able to tell whether there's someone in your blind spot on the motorway is more dangerous than riding without a back protector. I tried a friend's Dainese as well, it was better for flexibility but still rode up under the back of my lid.
I now have a jacket with a Dainese back protector stitched into it. It's very comfortable, but since it's in a jacket it's not full length. |

I actually test rode with it before I bought it, and found I could move my head freely because of the section under the head area being cut in a "U" shape, and found I was able to move around pretty freely. I also tried a Dainese, but found the Knox more comfy. Checkt he size, maybe that is th eproblem, I know that was a problem with the first one I got - apart from it also beign a very cheap brand one as well...

| Re: Answer HoNESTLY!!! I've never owned a back protector. I've contemplated the purchase of one for some time now. My first and latest spil with the Repsol (approx 70km/h) had me rolling for some time. The back feels fine (did not hit anything). High quality gloves, coat and kevlar pants are a must. I MUST find a good pair of armored jeans. And.. the helmet. Arai forever.
I'll be taking a look at this section for the next few weeks. I need to replace the damaged equipement...

The Dainese I bought is poking me in the neck something fierce. I don't think I'll be wearing it until I get to the track or find something more comfortable. I don't think a back protector should cause back/neck pain! |

| Re: Answer HoNESTLY!!! I just picked up an Alpinestars Tech Race to wear under my suit. It feels pretty comfortable under either my suit and my jacket. So unless it turns out to be annoying in the long run (which I dont think it will) then I will probably wear it for track or street |

That was under my leather jacket with mesh pants on. The arm strap seems to catch me in the armpit someone and messes with blood flow. Without the strap it is comfy and no movement

The backprotector kind of hugs your back and is help in place with either the jacket or suit. Like I said, next time I ride I plan on giving it a good testing out. |

| Re: Answer HoNESTLY!!! I would have said all the time, but then realized, in this little town I would go to see my Doc riding the bike without all the protective gear & even to met a chap, new to my town, & guide him up to my home for a cuppa.

| Re: Answer HoNESTLY!!! You need an option for "not very often" in your poll.
I've got a Knox back protector like Spookyjack's above, only black/silver. Use it when I'm doing trackdays or if I'm going out for a bit of a thrash on a Sunday wearing my one-piece suit.
Everyday riding, I'm in a two-piece and that has a back protector (sort of) built in.
BTW managed to fracture my spine some years back. Burst/compression fracture of T12, caused by shock from landing on my shoulder, passing down the spine. T12 sort of fell apart. Back protector wouldn't have helped, at least I don't think so. |

The one I have in my jacket is a honeycomb design which seems to vent pretty well (for being in an unvented jacket) while the other designs looked like solid plates. |
