| Re: Lap timer install This is a chitty writeup, look at the pics first and you'll get it better. Lap timer install pics I got my XT racing lap timer a couple days ago and decided to install it today. I used a 12mm flange nut since it wouldn't fit in the steering stem hole, I cut a slot in it with the dremel, then pressed it into the steering stem hole with a mallet. It is a little bit of an interference fit, and when you put in the bolt, it spreads the slot in the nut and locks in place even better. I cut out a piece of aluminum from a sheet about 3/4 of an inch higher than the timer, drilled a hole, and bolted it into the nut in the steering stem, I used a copper crush washer for the blingyness. I also put red locktite on the nut in the stem, and blue locktite on the bolt that holds the plate on just in case. After that, I velcroed the timer to the plate with the velcro supplied with the timer. I'm going to ride it on the street for a while to make sure the nut doesn't come loose in the stem, if it does, I'll just drill another hole on either side of the allen bolt, tap some small holes in the triple clamp, make some aluminum spacers to go under the plate. | |

| Re: Lap timer install So you didnt mount it on your tailsection? I would be afraid the heat would make the adhesive gooey and the transponder would come unattached during an inopportune moment. |

| Re: Lap timer install Gotcha! Do most tracks run pickups on both sides of the finish line? If not - do you plan on putting more velcro on the other side so you can move it around as necessary (not sure if you ever run the track backwards either)? |

| Re: Lap timer install I'm going to get another strip of velcro so I can move it to either side. Every trackday I've been to had a transmitter set up, but I have one just in case, I figure I can set it up in my apartment complex and do some fast laps, I just need them to get rid of the damn speedbumps |
