Helmet sizing?

I pulled the cheek [ads out of my Shoei RF1000 the other day and noticed they had a sticker with the number 35 on them. Are these something that can be bought in different sizes? I think if I had pads that were a little thicker, the helmet wouldn't be so noisy. Personally I don't like ear plugs, but it's getting colder now and the wind getting in the helmet hurts my ears. Suggestions?

Re: Helmet sizing?

I'm not positive about Shoei, but if they come out they can be replaced. With my Arai that's the case. The 35 means they're 35 mm thick. I think Arai has thicknesses up to 40 mm. How old is the padding? If it's a few years old, replacing it with the same size may work, provided the helmet fit correctly when new. If it needed to be tighter, go with the 40. Just an FYI, on the Arai at least, the padding on the top slso comes in different thicknesses, so you can really customize the fit.

What's up Parts.....

YES - that means you can buy the cheek pads in different sizes. I also have the Shoei RF1000 helmet and my cheek pads were a little tight. I went down to a 33 and it was MUCH better! I don't know if "thicker" will help your noise problem. It might....but I'm not expert. The cheek pads are relatively cheap, so even if it doesn't work 100%, you have a better fitting helmet.

Here is a good link to start you out:
