The laws here in the UK requires a helmet unless you're a Sikh & have to wear a turban. And gloves are recommended. Anyhow, thanks to ebay I have managed to source myself boots and leathers, and I got my gloves and lid new. Over all spent about $450 USD on the lot. The Sidi boots alone have saved my ankle once already when I got trapped under a 600cc bike and the kerb. After seeing that model's foot I am GLAD that I had been a boring old fart/wuss and got the full gear!
Anyway, you were looking at eye protection... Check out "Bolle" which also safety specs that look very similar to sun glasses, with iridium-like colour mirrored lenses, and are not that expensive at all. I have a pair of them which I wear inside my full face helmet - because tinted visors are not street legal here in the UK. But that's another story. |

Oh yeah and I know it's a pain, but helmet every time. Maybe you could bring a baseball cap with if your worried about your hair.
You shouldn't have to carry your helmet around with you. Don't most bikes have helmet locks on them? |

On a related note, I'm thinking I'm going to now wear my helmet in the pits on my scooter, just going at slow speeds to the bathrooms. I've heard of people falling off their bikes or pitbikes at the track, in the pits, at less than 5 mph and dying as a result of the head trauma. |
Happened to my buddy's father 4 years ago. Fell off one of those pit car, golf cart things. |

| Re: Eye protection! Ok, gonna play devils advocate here, and probably stir up alot of feces, but... When I lived in AZ after getting out of the Navy, once in blue moon, I'd ride w/o a helmet. I'm talking no farther than my house to Fry's (supermarket). Close enough that it was almost quicker to WALK there. It always felt really weird (And, yes, I know most accidents happen close to home). Although I'm totally for wearing a helmet, and think it's REALLY stupid not to, if Maxdoctor wants to feel the breeze, by all means, go for it. I'm totally opposed to helmet laws too. It's that whole, silly freedom of choice thing. Again, I'll never go for a ride w/o again, and consider myself lucky nothing bad happened when I wasn't wearing, and I've been down hard enough to crack a couple helmets, let people make their own choice. Having said that, check out Wiley X's. Pretty much everyone here in the Big Sandbox wear's 'em, and they'd work great on the bike. Did the custom Oakley order myself, quite happy to get exactly what I wanted in a pair of good sunglasses |

| Re: Eye protection! awesome. You should come out to bike night on wednesdays. They meet on kinergy (83) at the portillos near 290 not the closer one near 75th st at 7:30pm every wednesday. They usually have tons of sportbikes. I don't know maybe 100-300.
The gsxr is supposed to be pretty fast. I wonder if it would be quicker than my modded 929?

| Re: Eye protection! Please don't race on the streets. That's as stupid as not wearing a helmet. Maybe even worse because you're endangering others as well. If you want to race, get your racing license go racing on a closed course. And I mean racing. Trackdays are not meant for racing, either. |

| Re: Eye protection! Prob not 15min as I live near kingery and 63rd and it takes me about 10 mins, but you are pretty close.
Did you say mild street cams. I think you are the first sportbike owner that has a bike with actual motorwork done to it, not just bolt ons like pipes, powercommanders, airfilters, etc. Not including stretched drag bikes of course.
Yeah you should come out then. I won't be out there this wednesday, but you could still go. Everybody is really nice and easy to talk to. |
