Re: WTB- Backpacks/jetpacks, etc.

I saw a bike go by me this morning on the freeway and the guy was wearing an Alpinestars backpack. I have to say it looked great. I see Joe Rocket has 'em out too. Anyone here have any of these or any suggestions? By the way, I personally am not into outfitting my bike with tank bags, etc.

I have an alpinestars tech pack and love it! Its a little big but comfortable and has a helmet holder so you have your hands free after riding. I have yet to use this feature, so iam not sure how good it is. This pack is rugged and will last forever. It has straps that go across the chest and waist with easy to use(even with gloves) clips. It also has a built in back protector. I wouldn't rely on it as my only protection though it is well padded. Wow, I sound like a salesman * *

Re: WTB- Backpacks/jetpacks, etc.

After looking at all the packs at Chaparral about a yer and a half ago, I ended up just getting on at Sports Challet. It had all the features I wanted, and was only like $45. But there are probaly cooler ones now, I have seen the helmet holding ones, that looks pretty slick if you take your helmet with you.

Sounds great Speed, and I'm inclined more than ever now to get that one. *My only concern now is the fit over a leather jacket. *Is it just do-able or is it actually a good and comfortable fit? *

Someone please tell me so I can order it this very second!!

And G-Force, I'm a sucker for brand name goodies only
Thanks though for the suggestion. Here's your reward..

Re: WTB- Backpacks/jetpacks, etc.

Do any of these backpacks y'all are using have quick-snap buckles on the shoulder straps? That's what I am looking for, to make it easier to get the pack on and off. The NorthFace pack that I use fits very snugly and comfortably in place, but by that design, it is very difficult to get it on and off when wearing riding gear.

I have a FLM High-Speed 300 Speedpack I picked up at Polo. *I'm trying to find a pic online, but it's shaped like an aerodynamic back hump on GP leathers.

Here's one

39.95 Euro. Polo

Go to this URL Polo Online Shop

On the left hand frame you'll see 'Suche / Bestellnummer'. Type in '70260101140' (or just cut and paste this and then click on the 'Suche starten' button.

BTW, the pack has some really cool feature that you can't see in the pictures ... it expands by unzipping a zipper around the edge of the pack, fastens around you waist and chest, has a really cool Velcro pouch that goes on the front of either shoulder that's the perfect size for a cell phone, etc., has four individual compartments inside, and a place to clip you keys or whatever. Oh, the trim is also reflective It's awesome for the price.

Got my tech pack two days ago and rode with it yesterday. Awesome. I highly recommend it. Although, no it does not have a quick release for the shoulder straps But, having the built in back protector is a neat feature. Overall, very blingy and practical

I got mine at kneedraggers for only $143 and some change. They were the lowest (as I usually find they are&#33 I could find. And of course, kneedraggers is usually quick to send out the toys!

I've got one of these http://www.bbags.de/deutsch/Shop/media/Speedmaster.jpg

It's a B Bags speedmaster. instead of conventional straps, it has the X over design. So it's like a race car seat, the straps form an X over your chest and snap in place. It has a laptop sleeve inside, a helmet carrier on the outside, and a raincover. They sell in the UK only.

Re: WTB- Backpacks/jetpacks, etc.

I picked up a nice pack from REI. *Lots of little pockets, but what is real nice is the inner pouch designed to hold a CamelBak water reservoir.

http://a1072.g.akamai.net/f/1072/206...ges/694040.jpg

I can't drink while I ride because of the helmet/chin clearance, but it's nice to have water available after stopping to view the scenery.

I used to wear a bookbag (although it was made to carry skateboards) all the time and once I switched to a tank bag...I doubt I would ever go back. If you've never tried a tank bag, I suggest you try one just to see if you'll like it. They're not for everyone, but the bookbag wears my shoulders out easier. Give it a shot

Fieldsheer makes a jacket that has a built-in detachable backpack. It's not that big, but a pretty cool concept.

Been using the jansport bag for about a yr. Cool beag very comfi but only problem is that it has 3 pockets so the compartments are on the small side (instead of having 1 large and a small)

Been looking at the rei bag b/c its about the same size and looks like it only has 2 pockets
