Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

I am very close to purchasing an AGV 2-pc leather suit and would like your opinions both on the suit and the places I'm considering ordering from.

2002 AGV Apache Features:
- sport riding suit made of premium 1.5mm cowhide
- double and triple stitched seams in all impact and high-abrasion areas
- Schoeller Kevlar Keprotec stretch panels inside arms and leg joints
- effective front and rear adjustable zipper vents
- perforated underarms and torso, removable molded dual-density armor in shoulders, elbows and knees
- YKK zippers used throughout
- plastic knee cups and sliders (included)
- Aero Sport carbon-textured aerodynamic race hump built into back of suit
- sewn-in carbon-textured leather-covered exterior protectors (two on chest, two on back)
- neoprene stretch material sewn into cuffs
- spandex material sewn into back of collar
- reflective AGV Sport badges.

I found it at MAW Online for $434US, but they do not accept credit card orders from Canada, so if I order from there I'll have to send them a money order.
The other two places I found were Kneedraggers (for $485), and Parts411 (for $457).

This will also be my first internet purchase, so I'm more comfortable ordering with my credit card.

I called AGV Sports and they told me the suit was assembled in Pakistan, which made me question the quality of the suit somewhat. A friend of mine bought a slightly more expensive suit which was assembled in Indonesia and the quality was very good. So I'm leaning towards ordering it, but would welcome your opinions.

AGV Sport is a very good choice. If your in or near the States, any dealer that utilizes Parts Unlimited, which is just about all of them, can order this suit for you.

I checked in my area, but there are no authorized dealers I can order from. Which is why I'm considering the above mentioned online distributors.

This is my first set of leathers, so I want to make a good choice, especially since I haven't actually seen the garment in person before ordering it.

I managed to find a Spyke suit that I tried on for size and it fit great, so I'm hoping the sizing is the same for the AGV. The only thing I can't see is the quality of the AGV suit.

I'll also have to get a spine protector as I think the Apache doesn't come with one. Not sure if there is a pocket for it though.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

I have a AGV sport jacket and pants combo(blade jacket
with standard black pants)which I've had for 9 months
and they are perfect! jacket fits really well for off the
shelf stuff and pants are good fit for me(short legs fat waist&#33
both zip together no worries and body armor is removable
Half the price of most other leather manufactures and even
though they are made in Pakistan they are well made
you wont go wrong with your choice I know I didn't!

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

Definitely talk to as many people as you can about the suit before buying it, as my Spidi 2-piece and Tecknic 1-piece are a very different fit.

Oh yeah...if you do buy it don't jump into a gay pose like the dude in the picture.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

I have an AGV rage 1 piece suit that I've been happy with. I went down once in it with no damage besides some small scuffs. I bought it from Dennis Kirk as a closeout for $250...elsewhere I believe the cheapest I found was around $500. They have a couple in not the greatest colors left here.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

Not all AGV Sport apperal is made in Pakistan. Some of it is however, it is of great quality. Basically the Italian suits are more expensive due to styling and fit but do not have a more superior advantage when it comes to safety. For the money it would be hard to go wrong.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

Good for you Ghostrider! I just ordered an Italian-made AGV Astra suit from Helmet Depot. I hope the fit is OK. I have an AGV Rage jacket in size 44, and the salesman told me the Euro suits are a bit smaller than the Pakistan-made suits. My 44 has gotten a little loose on me because I've lost a few pounds, so I'm hoping the slightly smaller size 54 suit(Euro) will be just right. I think the AGV is good quality, and hard to beat for the money.

I hope your suit is a great fit. Let us know how you like it. The Apache is one of the suits I was thinking about getting, but decided I wanted a 1 piece.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

Thanks for the input pczach, glad to hear there are other riders out there that sport the AGV colors. Sizing was one of my concerns as well, but I tried on a SPYKE suit at my local dealer in the same size as I'm ordering. I'm hoping they'll be the same fit.

I'm tracking my AGV suit through UPS and it will be here tomorrow. They're charging me a brokerage fee of $62 CDN, which is almost double what the US Parcel Service charges.
At this point, I have no choice but to pay it, but I smell scam here.

Oh well...a small price to pay to get my leathers I suppose.
Will let you all know how the fit & quality is, etc.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

I received my suit yesterday and I just had to rush home for lunch to try it on. The quality was very good and the fit was great!

I rode into work today with the jacket, but found that the shoulder padding was interfering with my helmet alittle. So when I check my blind spot or when I look 90degrees left or right, I have to drop my shoulder to take a look.
I guess this is somewhat normal, but it just feels alittle restrictive. Or maybe I just have a short neck.

I still have to break them in though, so maybe it'll get better.
But overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

Glad you're happy with the new suit! You never know if they're going to fit right, or what the quality will be like if you never see the suit in peson before buying. My AGV Astra suit came the other day. These things rock!

How do you like the 'hump'? They look cool, and I'm sure they provide more safety, but they look like they may restrict your head movement too much on the street. When watching racing, these guys seem to easily turn their heads to check out riders behind them, so......

The fit and quality were my two major concerns, but now, after I've seen and worn it...like you said...These things rock!!! *

The hump is very cool. It does restrict my helmet somewhat, but the shoulders are more of a problem. I have to drop my shoulder in order to look sideways. I went for a long ride wearing only the jacket and found that the hump prevents my helmet from shaking when I go over 200kph. I guess it creates less turbulence behind the helmet and thus keeps it more steady.

I'm very happy with this suit. I'm waiting for my boots to be altered so that my pants will fit inside the boots. Other than that, I just need a good pair of gloves to complete the package. *

Only the boots are left.

Re: AGV 2-Piece leather suit

Picked up my boots this afternoon. Had them slightly altered so that my leather pants can fit inside the boot.
The guy did an excellent job, looks like the boots were made that way.
Tried on my leathers with the boots and it's a GREAT fit!!!

Excellent!!
