Update on OGK helmet and AGV Aegis...

Good news and bad news. First the good:
Took both the OGK FF3-GP and the Aegis out for their first road test. Took my chances with the traffic and rode down along Highway 1 to Big Sur and back. Wow! The Aegis breathes! Plenty of airflow, which will be appreciated in a few months. The leather is much more "flexible" than other suits I've tried off the rack. Comfy, no complaints at all. Quality is apparent. The OGK helmet was a pleasant suprise. I was worried when I ordered it, but the fit is perfect! Snug, (a bit of a sqeeze to get on and off) but no pressure points. It is very light. It is the lightest weight helmet I have ever seen or tried. Graphics are good, styling unique. I liked the AGV XR-2 because it was so stable at speed. This helmet is even better. You just forget you are wearing a helmet at all. Some have complained about the noise in these but I always wear earplugs anyway and had no complaints at all. Actually, I was surprised at how quiet it was. Like most full face helmets it will fog while stop & go in town unless you keep the visor cracked open a bit, then it is fine. Good ventilation. Extremely pleased.
Now the bad news: I honestly don't know how I did it, but when replacing the rear bodywork after doing away with the hideous mudflap, I must have torqued or tightened too much at the front most anchor bolt (right side) I didn't notice any problem at all when I was retightening everything. I tried to be extra careful. But today when I checked the bike before my ride, I noticed a web of tiny cracks spreading along the bodywork, emanating from around the bolt.

The left side is fine. This is why I don't like to do much wrenching on my bikes or cars. I have the worst luck/karma.

Nice to hear that you are happy with the new suit and helmet

Shame about the cracks though...

I need some new boots, and I see you wear Oxtar ones.. Are you happy with them? Do they seem well built/protective ?

What size helmet do you normally wear? I was told to go a size smaller than usual with the OGK. I'm waiting to hear on my FF4.

I have the Oxtar's also and definitely give them two

up. I have wide feet and thankfully they fit me great. Haven't "tested" them, but they seem to be built well.

Yeah, I normally wear a large but ordered the medium based on what I had heard about OGK sizing. Glad I did. It was very snug at first try, but now (after a couple hours of riding) is nicely snug. Either the helmet lining has conformed a bit, or my cranium has been squeezed to fit the helmet. Good either way... I like the Oxtars. Actually I am breaking in some new gloves too. I got the Icon "Patrol" glove. Good protection, nice fit and has a removable liner for climate change.

Thanks for the feedback on the Oxtar boots.. Think I will have to check them out. I believe the brand have been introduced in Norway a short while ago and they are therefore reasonably priced

The thing about them fitting wide (and hopefully short) feet well is a big bonus
