| Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion Hey all, I've decided to get away from textile and go leather, I've narrowed it down to either the JR 2pc Highside on New Enough for $420 or the Teknic 2pc Chicane also on NE for $330...I only ride street and I'm convinced either will serve me well. I'm looking for comfort, safety, features...just a little insight from you pros. Thanx

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion I think I'd go with the teknic. I've just never been impressed with the Joe Rocket stuff, although lots of folks use it. Did you look into Spidi? They make a reasonably priced suit that's good quality. |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion Teknic 'Chicane' line is made out of goatskin, from what I've heard it doesn't slide as well as cowskin. |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion I dont have a suit by either manufactors... but I do have leather jackets by both. Personally I like the Teknic. I've also heard that the leather in teknic suits are a lot softer than the leather they use in the cheaper joe rocket suit(so i've heard, but... I might be wrong). I'm going to be on the market for a damper this spring.... still undecided. Good Luck Chris |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion Ive crash tested my JR Highside twice now and its held up very well. I have also seen two seperate incidences of a Tecnic suit splitting at the seams in under 30mph crashes. YMMV. |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion I've crash tested my JR speedmaster 3 times now once over 100 and twice at about 40 and it's still in good shape. I still have one more time on the butt before I need to replace it. Knock on wood no more crashes. |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion I just got a JR Rocket 88 jacket and am very happy with it. They seem to run small - had to get a 3X. The quality seems great to me - but this is my first leather bike jacket.
My $.02. |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion I tried on Joe Rocket speedmaster suit and didn't like the fit. The teknic fits me perfect. I bought the violater for $635.00, nice suit for that price. |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion I have a Teknic Lightning 1-piece and a Joe Rocket jacket. The Teknic has pretty much fallen to pieces: lining has torn away from the stiching, crotch has come unstitched, etc. The Joe Rocket is going on 4 years and survived numerous rides in the rain and other tests.
I wont buy another item from Teknic but then again maybe my suit was just a fluke. My .02 |

| Re: Joe Rocket vs Teknic...your opinion I tested my teknic violator 2 piece with a couple of low sides and it did not hold up well. The leather over the hard armor in the elbow disintegrated in several spots. My friend's highside suit has taken 2 pretty good slides and the only damage is a few scuff marks.
Current suit is an AGV modena one piece. Fit's good, much thicker than the teknic, and at a reasonable price, IMHO. |
