| License plate holes - measurements I'm taking my bike to the DMV for the VIN inspection but I need to mount some L-Brackets where the license plate will go otherwise the DMV will kick my ass because the fender is shaved. Does anyone know the distance between the holes (inches) on a motorcycle license plate so I know how far apart my L-Brackets need to be when I drill the holes? Not sure if all states are the same, but I'm in Nevada.
This won't be an issue when my new dussault undertail arrives but my registration expires before the dussault will gets here. |

| Re: License plate holes - measurements I don't follow.
I currently have no plates to use as a template. My temporary registration is a sheet of paper for my wallet and the license plate holder was shaved of by the previous owner. Therefore, I have no template. |

| Re: License plate holes - measurements Ah, they don't issue a 30 day tag there? We get them here, and they are the same size/hole pattern as the perm. tags. |

| Re: License plate holes - measurements Any vehicle purchased outside the state of NV. gets a 10 temporary registration. Same goes for in-state private purchases. In-state purchases from dealerships gets 30 days. I picked up my bike in Los Angeles.
Do you know the width of the holes on your plate? Like a car, I would think the holes would be the same in all states. If you buy a Honda Accord, it has "generic" holes and all states fit those holes. I would like to think bikes are the same, especially since most undertail kits have non-adjustable license plate mounts.
It would be helpful to know this information before cruising up to the DMV. Makes life a little easier. Otherwise, I guess at it and make adjustments accordingly until the undertail kit arrives. Thanks.

Really, I've been working non-stop and haven't had any leisure time for the last two weeks. My good friend that rides a gixxer is with his girl in the hospital enducing a baby. I emailed him the other day but I know he is pre-occupied so I felt awkward bothering him with a question about a license plate. CBR99XX - Thank you! That seems right. And thanks to everyone for responding.. |
