| Rider killed at VIR Sadly, this is the first fatality at Virginia International Raceway. A 51 year old novice racer at the WERA races collided with another racer and hit the wall. Scroll down to second article

| Re: Rider killed at VIR As a sidenote, I had no idea where VIR was. I've been to Danville several times before. Had I known I was so close I woulda stopped by for a quick gander. It's only about 8-9hrs from my house |

| Re: Rider killed at VIR Maybe being over 50 is dangerous when the adrenylin starts flowing. This was a practice crash and both riders were on lightweights!
Sorry to hear about this and Godspeed to Tom. |

| Re: Rider killed at VIR We were on the South course when this happened. Doc and I were riding and our friends went up at lunch time to check out the WERA races and saw some police cars out on the track. They thought that was awfully strange and asked around... Turns out someone had died... Slowed me down for a session... |

| Re: Rider killed at VIR This is always sad to hear about, but anybody who races knows the risk. At least he was doing something he loved at the time.
Now we have one more angel to look over us. |
