Advice on selling CBR929rr Race bike ?

I bought Sloducks' custom 01' 929 and now I am thinking of converting it to a full time race bike.

I have a 2000' CBR929rr that cosmeticly totaled after I crashed at Buttonwillow a couple of years ago. Insurance paid me off for the bike and I bought it back and prepared it for race track use.

I surrendered my plates and title to California D.M.V. and filled out a document saying that I was junking the bike. I was handed a receipt and was told that I should place it in a secure place as it would be the only proof I had that the bike was legaly mine.

The bike was checked after I crashed by "Computrack" of Milpitas and was certified straight in regards to all alignment and steering geometry.
So it was certified straight and has been ridden about 5,000 miles by me on track days since then. (no more crashes) It was raced one time by me earlier this year at Buttonwillow in AFM "open production" class.

The total mileage is around 7,500 miles on the bike.
The extras are as follows:
Full "Airtech" race legal body work (Fairing, Belly pan and solo tail)
"Dan Kyle" Modified Stock Forks
"Penske" Shock
"Attack Performance" fully adjustable rear sets
"Leo Vince" Carbon fiber high pipe (stock header)
"Dynojet" Power Commander 3
"Scotts" Steering Damper
"Dunlop" 208 GPA tires

Now I would like to sell the bike!
What's it worth? .......What is best way to sell it?

Option #1
Restore the bike with street plastic and lighting and go back through D.M.V. to obtain a salvage title. This would mean getting brake and lamp inspections etc.

Option #2
Sell the bike as a Race/Track bike and provide buyer with bill of sale?

How would you deal with this situation if it were yours?

TIA

Sell it as a race bike. You won't make much either way, and it won't be worth the time and hassle to "street" it again.

I agree with guy.

Aaron,

Did I give you my son's XR70 manual by any change? Also, I need to talk to you about taking the front wheel off that. Just make sure you remember all the spacers accordingly.

Good luck

decision time!

My decision was to keep my track bike and install Ohlins forks w/Brembo radial calipers and ferodo floating rotors, Ohlins shock, Dan Kyle rear shock link and the lightweight Marchesini wheels.
I tested this at Sears Point today and was very pleased with the results. Consistant 1:51's and a fast lap of 1:49.1

Thanks SloDuck!
