| Another AFM rider fallen... I started this thread on BARF but figured I'd post it here because a lot of AFM riders also post here. http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...threadid=84721

Dammit, AFM is having a very bad year.
AFM has been run too long by the same people and they don't listen much, maybe they'll open up a bit to new ideas.

| Re: Another AFM rider fallen... This has been a terrible year for crashes. I dont know why. To lose two AFM racers, both close to my age, in one summer is truly sad.

| Re: Another AFM rider fallen... I am not on the AFM email list anymore but I heard that even after Infineon Raceway asked the AFM to use the new safer AMA config we are still racing the old config for the last race of the year? Anyone have any facts on this? That T10 is so scary and happens to be where our fellow racer hit the wall and passed away. Why would we still race that config - it seems really silly with the safer alternative staring us in the face?

-Shane | there was the AMA alternative, which adds a chicane in T9, slowing traffic significantly thru T10--the problem is that if someone blows the chicane--they can easily end up in the exit of T9, if their bike goes down, it makes things worse. Personally, I prefer the AMA config as it is more challenging and there are new opportunities to pass going into the chicane--but thats just me. A few weeks ago Sears(infineon) mandated AFM run the AMA config--BUT latest I heard they changed their mind and dcided to go back to the AFM config. In the AFM config---its just a "whos got the biggest-balls fest" going into T10---if everyone just went fast--it would be better--but it gets "inetersting when some weenie decides to brake real early going into T11--causes alot of drama---the other weird thing(s) is that this gentleman was the "pit mate" of the guy that died last race at Sears---he was the fastest guy in AFM on a 929/954 before he got a GSXR1 in 04

| Re: Another AFM rider fallen... Yeah - I raced with Rich a few times, the first person to pass away this year at Sears Point. He was VERY quick on his 929 too. It was pumped up ALOT though. I gotta say I would prefer the new AMA config too man, that wall in 10 scares the bejesus out of me.
